Green 5 Pound Refill Pack - Including: 5 Pounds Moldable Indoor Play Sand, Storage Container and Inflatable Sandbox

I actually bought both the 2 lb. pack and the 5 lb. Kinetic sand packaged set that has both a bucket and a plastic inflatable sandbox. My first purchase was the 2 lb. pack as I wanted to see if my 3 year-old grandson (who is almost 4) would have any interest. However, this activity is for his visits here at our home and since he loves playing with this sand so much, I reordered the 5 lb. packaged set as a ‘surprise’ gift for the holidays for him to take home.This kinetic sand is reminiscent of all the fun I had when I used to play with modeling clay a million years ago when I was a kid. However, this is even better, and it’s easier to work, as it does not harden, and it doesn’t break into little bits when working to model an object.This looks very similar to brown sugar, however, it is NOT sticky, and it does NOT stick to anything other than itself. Our hands remain clean and dry and without any sandy residue. Clean-up is a breeze and since it does not stick to anything we just pour it right back in the bag. It’s squeezable, and conforms to any shape, and allows my grandson to get creative as he pinches the sand to add some little details, and it’s just a fun and different thing to play.In addition, the sand comes with simple suggestions for maintenance due to the different humidity levels within our environment. This is a fool-proof way to keep the sand in perfect condition and just takes a few minutes to correct if the sand gets a little hard or too soft.This is a quiet activity from his other toys, the remote and friction cars, his ‘sports’ toys, the electric train, and other dancing, musical, bubble blowing and flashing lighted playthings. In addition, it’s much more fun than playing with his building blocks.I only bring out this kinetic sand when his one year old brother is napping, so this is a special time reserved for just my three year old grandson and me.Therefore, there is a second and unexpected advantage. My grandson now keeps very quiet while his brother is napping because he knows that I will put the kinetic sand away when his brother is around. I’ve told him that it’s not suitable for a one-year old and only appropriate for a ‘big boy’ like him, and that makes him feel a little special.As a personal recommendation, since I did buy both sizes, I would suggest that the 5 lb. package is a much better deal. There are two separate bags of the kinetic sand to equal 5 lbs. and this is more than twice as much. In addition, it comes with a bucket AND a 24” plastic inflatable tray with handles. When finished playing, the tray deflates and fits back in the bucket. Therefore, this packaged set contains everything, the sand, the tray to contain the sand, and the storage bucket, an all-inclusive set. Consequently, the 5 lb. package is a much better deal, as the last pound of sand along with the bucket and inflatable tray are basically free.

Let me start off by saying that coolsand truly cares about their customers and their satisfaction, I had purchased the 2lb sand Castle deluxe storage. I thought it was OK. It could’ve been softer. When I first received it the sand was hard as a rock it took a long time to mold eventually it got soft some what but if left out longer than a few minutes it started hardening. So I purchased a 5lb which turned out to be more softer right from the beginning! It did not harden and kept its shape when I had sent them a message in regards to the 2lb not being as soft and was not up to my satisfaction they were very understanding they sent me a new 2lb bag which is just as soft as the 5lb I had purchased. Also when I receive my 5lb coolsand the storage container had cracked I mentioned it to them and they sent me a new container with my 2lb coolsand. I have nothing bad to say about coolsand only good things. If you should have a problem reach out to them. How are they to know if there’s an issue if it is not confronted they will always have a loyal customer this will be my go to gift when purchasing a gift for a child. my son loves the sand he plays with it every morning it is by far the most unique gift you could give your child I believe it helps with Relaxation, Helps with motor skills, and Challenges your child to be creative. This stuff is awesome, so much fun to play with! I love the included container and the blow up sandbox, nice touch!What I did, as it is low humidity here in the winter, when it was received, so it was kind of dry and hard is this:Instead of the recommended "spray water above the sand", (but you are not supposed to get it in the sand, so I thought that would be a recipe for disaster with the kids), I took a humidifier and ran a plastic siphon type tube out of the top of the humidifier and hung the tube over the top of the sandbox they include. This worked great to soften the sand, and the kids had a blast messing with the steam coming out of the tube as well!I also wrapped the included plastic bag around the part of the tube that went into the humidifier hole, so the steam wouldn't escape around it, and would come out the other end of the tube, worked great!Highly recommended!

Overall, good product. I loved the packaging but it just wasn't enough. Nice color to the sand.

My 3 yr old grandson loves trucks and this set comes with a dump truck as well as other molds. It kept him interested for well over an hour, first filling the molds but what really got his attention was filling the dump truck and driving it over the sand and making tire tracks.Still not sure what the velcro strips on the blow up thing are for but the set up stays put on his Fisher Price activity table. The stuff doesn't fly all over the place and doesn't stick to hands (unless they have other wet and sticky stuff on them and then it just wipes off hands with a dry paper towel.)it's a great activity for when kids are not feeling well but still need an activity to distract them from boredom.

The package arrived in a comfortable box with a closed lid. One of the boxes I got was missing a part so couldn't be closed.The sand feels really nice and doesn't stick to your hands when playing with it. The package also contains a small inflatable mat where kids can play inside without spreading the sand all over the place.
