Very nice and a handy small size no product box.
A higher product rating review would have been given if this device had a product box and did not have awful sticky labels stuck to the nylon carrying case which left a sticky residue which required isopropyl alcohol to remove it.This appears to be a great consumer grade geiger counter given its low price which can measure gamma, x-ray and hard beta particles. No alpha particle measurement. There is no USB charger supplied and no charging instructions. A 5 volt 0.5 amp charger will suffice and should be safe. The device does not show counts per minute. Consider the extra expense of a charger.I have tested the device with a thorium radiation source and the device appears to work as expected. There is some lag as the device responds to exposure and removal from the low level radiation source. The device can read up to 50 mSv which is a good range.Rubbing alcohol will be needed to remove the sticky glue left behind after the labels are removed from the carrying case. If you don't have a bottle of IPA to remove the glue, you will need to add that to the cost of buying this instrument. I guess plastic bags are too expensive to put the product in and then stick the labels onto the plastic bag! IPA can be purchased from Amazon. The very bad: My geiger counter is missing the product box packaging. Someone has sellotaped labels to the product carrying case which has left residue on the nylon case. The product may be a previous customer return. I have returned the item back to Amazon warehouse where it will be likely sent out to another unsuspecting customer.Update: A replacement gieger counter arrived and this one did not have a product box with it either. The USB cable has minor damage. The seller contact details which are Apex CE Specialist, sellotaped to the nylon carry case, do not appear to be valid. It is not possible to contact the seller because the telephone number given which is in Manchester belonged to an accounting company that has since closed down. I think it is unlikely that anyone will get support for this device easily however, if you purchase you will be covered by Amazon's 2 year warranty for the device. I hope this information is useful.

Great value geiger counter...except
First one received came without the case & didn't work, however a replacement arrived very quickly with no delivery issues. The replacement works great after charging the FLAT built-in battery...which is not ideal, because a lithium battery should never be allowed to go flat. Seems to be okay now, though battery duration & lifespan may be reduced. Is this WHY it was only Β£48.99?Out of the box this geiger counter will likely disappoint many because it is NOT sensitive enough to beta particles for radioactive collectibles hunting UNTIL the right-hand orange silicone rubber strip is removed to expose the unusual HH442 GM tube, which then is easily replaced. After that, it's actually very sensitive for a glass tubed GM counter...certainly better than the more common M4011 found in budget detectors, including some that are much more expensive, like the gimmicky GQ GMC 500 series.Overall I really like this for the money. Quick acting electronics/software mean it responds fast with fall back to background pretty quick too for a low budget-priced consumer unit...excellent. I just dropped a star for the FLAT battery on arrival.Update -12/10/22: Had to drop another star as the unit when switched off drains the battery too quickly. Full charge lasts about a week, whether switched on or not, which means the claimed 20 days (more like a few hours) of continual use (without clicker) is false. A great pity as this in other respects appears to be one of the best available for the money...a wasted opportunity.Update - 27/10/22: Dropped to zero stars (+1 because A doesn't allow zero) as unit now refuses to charge at all & has failed completely. Seller must have known that these geiger counters are defective, so this is being returned for refund...disgraceful!

Excellent
I have tried several of these monitors and this is by far the best. Very comprehensive features which all work, good battery life. My only gripe is the very small screen, you need a good pair of glasses to read it which might not be possible in an emergency.
