Does the job, although not for the average Joe. First of all, modification is needed to assemble the compressor, feet support mounting holes don't line up with the frame, got to elongate holes. Secondly, parts are loose, when you put in the adapters, there is a massive play in the adapters when you start applying load. The securing bolt holes for these adapters don't help at all since the holes are larger by about 1/8" to 3/16" contributing to the massive play in the adapters. Works okay, compresses as it's supposed to, but expect some getting used to and trying different things for safety and efficiency

I had high hopes for this unit with the cost of it.Did compress two coils, though with great concern as neither of the included set of plates for the press would fit the coils properly for a standard size coil. Used this Strut Spring compressor for the first time this weekend and I was impressed. It made the changing of the springs effortless and safe. The strut fits in the holder so so. The centre bolt that holds the spring is accessible, but the 2 other bolts on the strut, make it so you need to rotate the strut to try and fit one or all of them under the black horseshoe shaped piece. Even though the spring sat somewhat level in the holders and I secured the chain around the spring and tool in case of it slipping out. I would certainly recommend this product to anyone looking for a safe way to change springs on a strut.

I received this strut Spring compressor and put it right to work. It is well made, fast, easy and safe to operate compared to the screw type Spring compressor I borrowed from the parts store. The screw type Spring compressor can slip on one side causing very difficult recovery. With this hydraulic compress simply adjust the height, slide the strut in between upper and lower mount, secure the strut with the chain and start pumping. Once the top is loose unscrew the top but with a wrench and remove the strut. Slide the strut strut out and slide the new strut in, align it and tighten the top nut. It can all be done in 20 minutes without danger and struggle. If the strut springs are weak replace the whole assembly instead of strut only.
