Yu-Gi-Oh! The Art of the Cards

Great Idea for an Art Book!!...should have been better...
The cover of the book and its texture are awesome.I did not like the horizontal book layout. I can't hold it with one hand, so im forced to lay the book on a flat surface. And it doesn't look good in my "vertical" book library. So i keep it in a drawer, with my yu-gi-oh! card collection...It includes the artworks of 803 cards. Each image is 3x3 inches. And they're in alphabetical order. It also includes at the end, a bonus 20 artworks of full art and alternate art monsters. This book shows all the cards that appeared in Yugioh Duel Monsters and Capsule Monsters. So other TCG artworks are not included. There are alternate artworks of various cards. (Like Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Dark Magician Girl)"The Monarchy" artwork is included. Known in the TCG as "Duelist Kingdom".(which is not noted here). But "Set Sail for the Kingdom" and"Glory of the Kings's Hand" are NOT included, even though the three cards were printed in 2015 (This Book was printed in 2017).. Also "Legendary Knight Timaeus","Legend of Heart","The Eye of Timaeus" and its fusions were included but, "Legendary Knight Critias","Legendary Knight Hermos", and their respective spell cards and fusions were NOT. Even though they also were printed in 2015.There are some images that list the wrong duelists. (ex. The Shallow Grave, Doma the Angel of SIlence). It'd be great if they could have added in the description if the image was a Monster, Spell or Trap. The majority if the images are TCG artwork, so there are a bunch that are censored or altered...(the most notable being Dark Magician Girl and Monster Reborn). The weird thing is that it does have OCG artwork (none of which needs censoring). They're 15 cards, all normal monsters.I wish we get a book with a vertical layout, and with all the ORIGINAL artworks...uncensored!!I dont know if they can fix these mistakes and make a 2nd edition...i would like a book for Yugioh GX too...This Book Is a Nice idea...but i think it could've been better..Oh.. in the end there's an add for the Yugioh Duel Art book (which i haven't got yet but still recommend as a better book to get) ....and theres a small image of dark magician girl....if only the others weren't censored..

An Art Book, Through and Through
The book is gorgeous and flipping through it is a great time. Each card has a listing of their original OCG name, alternate names used in the dub, as well as which duelist used the card within the show.Unfortunately, while they included the original names, it'd be nice if they included both the TCG and OCG art. What we got was the censored version, which was an obvious assumption, but a guy can dream.Additionally, there is very little in the way of commentary. I would've loved to get insight into how some of the creative processes went when designing the cards from the original story. Generally, art books include such things as short interviews with artists, or perhaps an anecdote or two. This book has none of that. For what it is, though, the book delivers. It's an amalgamation of the cards (real cards, anime exclusive cards are not included) used in the show. You'll get some recent cards, too, if they are based off of old ones, such as the case with Mimicat. For the price, definitely worth picking up, you just might be left wishing there were a bit more if you wanted something beyond a gallery.

While a great book, I do agree with a few reviews ...
While a great book, I do agree with a few reviews that have said the ending is the best part. Towards the end of the book, they post the large, high quality images used on the cards, some of them the full body image that doesnt get printed on the card art. But instead they opt to do the rows of various card art for many of them. Still though, its quite nice.

I'm not sure if that happened during shipping or if it was shipped like that, but I wanted to note it
The book arrived with a small gash in the cover, through the plastic wrapping. I'm not sure if that happened during shipping or if it was shipped like that, but I wanted to note it.Otherwise, it would've had 5 stars. The pages are nice, the book is well-made and beautifully illustrated. I love having all of the artwork of this game and tv show that I love so much.

All edited TCG artwork, but high quality.
The quality of the book is great, the printing is fantastic, and is fun to flip through. However some specific artworks are missing and all the art is based off the edited TCG art, not original OCG art. Cards like Ha Des and Spellbinding Circle are censored, but I should have expected so. Also disappointed that the original Blue-Eyes and Dark Magician arts don't have full pages, but the Legendary Collection versions do. If don't mind that then this is 5 stars for the value I paid for it.

Amazing Book to have
Amazing Book to have. Its like a year book for yugioh cards. Only downside i noticed was there was no Silent Magician, none of the 3 in this book, but there was silent Swordsman.Pages, and cover are all high quality as you would expect from a art book.
