Chrome Bare-Metal Foil Model Car Truck Kit Adhesive by Bare Metal Foil

Chrome bare-metal foil was introduced to me by a friend who does highly detailed model cars. In restoring antique cars there are interior trim or emblem items that are not reproduced or cannot be re-chromed using normal methods. Bare-metal foil is self-adhesive, once applied rub it with a soft eraser to allow it to contour to the details then easily trim with a sharp detail razor knife.I have used it now for several interior trim items with great success and durabilty.

It takes a bit of finesse but excellent results can be had even on tiny emblems on 1:25 or smaller models.

I love the way it looks on the car it really brings them to life

Keep in mind that it isn't as shiny/reflective as the chrome parts which come with model kits, but it looks a whole lot better than the so called chrome paint. Pretty easy to use if you follow the instructions.

Works great on the car models. Only caution I see is that a slight adhesive film residue was left on the paint when the unused excess was pulled off. I remedied that by putting tamiya masking tape down first, on the next one. I know, the pros are saying ‘we’ll yeah dude’ of course. Any way, after a 50 yr break I started back on models and am so glad someone created this…shutting up now. Thanks!

I didn't think that this foil could possibly be pliable and yet durable enough to conform to tiny compound curves. I experimented with covering a complete aircraft model and it performed beautifully. The pictured model is only six inches wingtip to wingtip. Every single panel line shows through..Good stuff!

It’s doesnt shine like chrome. It’s duller than that. The foil is “very” thin and this makes applying it problematic. It’s malleable enough one can rub out most wrinkles. Adhesion is good. It’s ok, not great.

I use BMF and an Xacto Z11 blade to mask canopies and other surfaces that require fine detail masking.The Xacto Z11 blade/system are new. 2 Me anyway.
