"Copper" solar post caps work very well
These solar post caps were very easy to install, work very well lighting the area & are quite stylish. The only problem is the copper coloring fades very quick when exposed to direct sunlight daily. We would purchase again.

Color fades quickly in the sun.
Buy touch up spray paint because the color fades rapidly in the sun. I've only had them hooked up for a couple of weeks and they are already faded! They look nice and light up well!!

Does not fit a 4x6 post!
Bought these specifically for the 4x6 posts for our privacy fence. Please note: the actual dimensions of a US 4x6 is actually 3-1/2" by 5-1/2".The actual dimensions of the cap is 5"x5".Now, for those of you who are bad at math, or are unfamiliar with shapes, a 4x6 is a rectangle. The 5"x5" cap is a square. You don't have to trust me, just ask a kindergartner...though I would be weary as they can be a bit snarky.Never one to not "give it a try", as much as I tried to make it fit, it just fought me every step of the way and refused to stretch. As a final attempt, I just placed it on top of the post and stepped back. It just looked aesthetically displeasing so I removed it immediately and was thankful there were no snarky kindergartners lurking around.Alas, this is where it ends...me sipping a Blue Hawaii; the solar post caps back in the box with a return label.I hope you have better luck if you order this for your 4x6 posts.Cheers...

Bright, just perfect!
I am very pleased with this post cap. It’s bright yet not overly bright. I like the textured look as well. It makes my address post look so much nicer!

Accent lighting only.
These lights look nice and work well. They are very dim, but since they're sold as accent lights, that's all that's needed. They will pep up your deck a bit, but don't expect them to give you enough light to see by.They are installed by using screws to secure them down onto the TOP of a post. If your posts are not solid wood, check them before ordering these lights. Remove the post caps that you intend to replace with the lights, and make sure that there is a solid surface to attach them to. Also, the lights sit flat on top of the post -- so make sure that any mis-cuts or defects that are hidden by the old post caps aren't bad enough to leave exposed.I followed the instructions when installing the first light, and found that doing the second one slightly differently was a little easier. If I was going to install more of these lights, here's how I would proceed:1. Separate the three sections (top - with solar panel, middle - with the clear lens, and bottom - that attaches to the post) by twisting counter-clockwise.2. Use a ruler -- or other straight edge -- to draw lines on top of the post, going from outside corner to diagonally opposite outside corner of the visible post (not the wood inside if it's a plastic/ metal post). This will make an X that's centerd in the outer part of the post -- rather than an inner wood piece.3. Put the bottom secion of the light fixture on top of the post, lining it up so that it's square to -- and centered on the post.3a. Use a pencil to mark where the screw holes need to be.3b. Lift the light base and make sure the screw hole marks landed on the diagonal lines you made previously. If they don't, re-align the base and try again until they do.4. With the base off, and the top of the post exposed, drill pilot holes where your final screw hole marks are.5. Put the base back on the post, and use the provided screws to secure it in place.6. Twist the middle (lens) section CLOCKWISE onto the base.7. Remove the plastic pull strip that's sticking out of the battery compartment. Be careful not to be looking at the LED while pulling out the tab, since there's a very good chance it will turn on as soon as the strip is out.8. Twist the top (solar panel & LED) section CLOCKWISE onto the middle (lens) section.9. Peel the protective plastic film off of the solar panel.10. Clean up and walk away -- You're done.
