Notable umami, but not vegatal enough for my taste.
For the mini packets:Don't think I've encountered a matcha with so prominent an umami flavor, but the sweet and vegetal flavors I look for in a matcha were almost imperceptible. I don't mind a bit of bitter either, of which there is none to speak of. The overall effect is restrained, even elegant. Also, you want to strain the powder, which comes out in little clumps.1.06 oz size:After my last order of my heretofore favorite matchsa, the Shizen Okumidori, proved to be undrinkably bitter, I decided to buy the 1.06 oz size of the Encha ceremonial matcha. I was disappointed to find that the umami was less pronounced that in the mini packets, and the powder has only a slight scent. Slightly bitter too, but that's ok with me.

If you're looking for the perfect matcha- get it!
I know this one is expensive but it's so worth the moneyI love matcha and I used to get matcha lattes from cafes daily before the quarantine happened. Since a month ago, I've been trying to find a good matcha powder and I decided to try this one. It's so good!! It has the dreamy matcha taste- smooth and bitter sweet in a great way.My recipe:200 ml whole milk1/2 tbsp hot water1/4 tbsp honey1 pouch of this powderMix the 1/2 tbsp hot water with 1/4 tbsp honey in a cupSift 1 pouch of encha matcha powder in the cupMix with an electric frother until foamy surfaceHeat up 200 ml milk until it starts simmeringPour milk in the cup (if you want to keep the foamy texture of the matcha on the surface, pour the milk in slowly to not disturb the foam from the matcha)Yummy 😁 Also gives me the caffeine kick I need!

Great matcha powder, overly large packets/expensive
As for the match powder itself, great taste -- smooth, not bitter, very high quality product. As for the packaging, there's two inter-related things that would make me like this product better: 1) too expensive and 2) the serving size is a bit too big for one person in one sitting (one packet makes what I could consider 2 servings for myself). For the number of individual packets you get in one box, this product is pretty expensive. The packets have quite a lot of powder in them, so perhaps smaller packets and more of them at a similar price would be better. I know I could buy one tub of matcha powder at a cheaper price and control exact how much I use at a time but I chose to buy the individual packets because I don't want to leave an entire matcha container open/exposed to air for extended periods of time (I don't think I go through it fast enough and like the powder fresh).

Best matcha on the market!
I began drinking matcha about 3 years ago and enjoyed it, until I found Encha-then I LOVED it. This is the best quality you will find, and I have tried them all. Very bright green in color, the ceremonial grade depicts the top level of quality and freshness with almost no bitterness at all. Very drinkable hot or cold, however the best for making an extremely foamy hot matcha. The latte grade is also brighter green in comparison to other brands of the same grade. It has slightly more bitterness (so you can enjoy a stronger flavor) and is my favorite as an iced tea, although you can also mix it with your favorite coconut milk or almond milk for a perfect matcha latte. The little packets are perfect for taking on vacations or just to keep one in your pocket. I have to say other than having a superior quality product, what has blown me away about this company is their kind and generous customer service. Once I received the wrong product, and sent an email to receive a response and emphatic apology immediately as well as replacement product while allowed to keep the initial product they mailed by accident. Before I began drinking matcha, I was addicted to coffee. We roast our own coffee beans and although the flavor was like no other, I found I was constantly crashing in the afternoons.. or getting the jitters so badly I would break out into a sweat and have a blood sugar crash. Matcha does not have those effects as it has about 1/3 the caffeine of that in coffee, and contains theanine, which has a calming effect on the nervous system. As a personal trainer and nutritional consult, I have reccomended this product to all of my clients and have gotten them all addicted to Encha matcha. Everyone has loved it so far, using it as a pre-workout energy boost without the harmful chemicals used in traditional workout products! If you're considering giving this product a try-DO IT. You won't regret it!

This is a very good matcha. I needed something I can take with me in my bag for when I need a shot of energy. Usually mix it with bottled lemonades from the store. Better than soda, right?I’ve had expensive ones that doesn’t taste like anything. Had culinary grades that clumps like crazy. But Encha never clumps on my once I start shaking that lemonade bottle! I’ve had Teavana matcha that leaves clumps under the bottle no matter how many times I shake it.The portability assures me that when I get that craving I don’t need to bring the bowl, whisk and right temp of water. Would definitely buy this once my ten packets are done.

Excellent Convenience and Quality
Ever since returning from Japan earlier this year I was trying to find a matcha of quality that reminded me of Japan and the convenience of being able to drink it on the go. Now the on the go packets may go against the idea of drinking ceremonial grade matcha, but I am glad they exist especially in the quality provided by Encha. If you are looking for high quality matcha from Uji don't hesitate to buy from Encha.

one of the better matcha powders
I purchased this in 2017 and I find that the powder easy to dissolve with a whisk. I did not use a bamboo whisk and it worked fined when used with a bit of hot water. I usually drink it as a latte. I know it's quite expensive but sometimes quality is well worth the price. I have tried a brand from matcha Moon organic culinary matcha and it's not worth it. It is clumpy and I had to use a mesh strainer. Also, the color was grassy dark green compared to Encha's light green color. Also, not bitter when I used it without sugar. Would purchase again.
