OK for hooking up headphones, not good for microphones
I was hoping to be able to use this to hook up a good quality analog microphone to my PC or other devices. It turned out to be a very poor solution for that. It worked but there is a constant low rumbling of about 40db which is very objectionable, this was there with or without a mic plugged in so it must be an issue with the hardware.As far as connecting headphones, I was able to connect a set of iPhone wired headphones to my PC with it and this worked and sounded good. Microphone worked too, but the same low rumble.So I would say, if all you want is to connect an a set of headphones/mic to a phone that only has a USB-C jack or to a PC for video conferencing or making phone calls, it's fine. But if you want to hook a quality microphone to it for recording videos/voice overs...etc, look elsewhere. In my office, which is not perfectly quiet, most mics will get about 55db from background noise, so the noise coming from this device is quite a bit more than the background noise level. Just too much low end noise for to use for any serious recording.

Works the way it supposed to work. I'm glad I took a chance, & ordered it.

It did work for me...
Between six of us and all our devices, one challenge we have is getting single(1) 3.5mm plugs to do both sound and mic on the device; regardless if the specs say they should work with only one plug.+ Easy to install...it's plug and play+ On a laptop and my S9 phone both the mic and sound worked on a couple of gaming headsets that only have a single aux plug.-- I get a lot of feedback on the mic side of things even after trying more than one headset.Others can hear me, but say there is some sort of distorted sound even when I'm not talking.OVERALL:It gives options though I haven't found a device in our house yet that only has USB-C and not an accompanying 3.5mm/AUX port. I was hoping this would also make the connection clearer than the outdated AUX technology, but it didn't.

Good adapter
Having an Aux cord in your car when blueooth don't work can be a hastle. But this little baby saved the day. Being able to connect my phone to my car stereo system may be a first world problem, but i am happy and this works.
