Good for Windows but NOT ideal for Linux
UPDATE: I was eventually able to install several flavours of Linux on this laptop just not Linux Mint as I originally intended. Instead I have the even better Zorin16 on it and it works beautifully. Better than Windows by a mile and free. This just reinforces the 5 stars I originally gave it.End of update.I'm an IT pro with several high spec laptops all using Windows 7 and 10. I brought this because I hate Windows 10 and wanted to use this as my first adventure into the better, faster and free LINUX operating system. Unfortunately after many attempts and a lot of research the Acer would not allow LINUX to be installed!Instead I installed LINUX on an older but higher spec HP at the *first attempt!*As for using this machine with Windows 10 - its good, well made, good screen and fast for an Intel i5. Only thing I really really don't like is the power button replacing the delete key on the keyboard instead of being a seperate button. As a coder I use the delete key often alas this is how many manufacturers are doing it not just Acer.I haven't tested the battery life as I'm usually plugged in.By pre Covid prices it is a bit expersive but based on today it is good value for money. As for ease of use - don't like the power button but otherwise its fine.All-in-all though, a good laptop.

It works like a dream - now!
This is my 5th Acer, but the first bought from new. The options are quite confusing now, but this model met all my requirements including price. I checked and charged it when it arrived, then began the set up process a week later (it was a birthday present). After using it for about a week, the screen flashed off in the middle of a document.Everything was dead, just a single bar of light at the top of the screen flashing different colours. I could not even turn it off. After a fairly long session with Amazon help (Thanks Ronnie) the decision was to return it to Acer, which I arranged immediately. The next morning the battery had run down and the laptop was off.I plugged it in, switched it on, and everything has been fine since!Just a glitch, annoying, but not fatal. I could have just returned it to Acer anyway, but the process was cancelled by agreement, and that suits me because I would have had to go through the set up processes again. If it goes wrong again, Acer already know about it.An interesting lesson, Computers are complex and are quite capable of having a hiccup. Shut down and restart often works - even in these circumstances!

Very happy
I've had the computer for a while, I can honestly say that it is a vast improvement on my old one, in every department. It's so nice not to gave to keep it plugged in, as the battery easily lasts all day. To be honest, I don't use the computer that much, so the battery lasts forever! It boots up so quickly, the screen is big enough for all my needs and once you're online, I'm finding that any downloads I've made have been SO much quicker than on the old machine. It's got all the ports you could need and I love how light it is, never had a computer I can walk around with it in my hand before. I will be buying another one for a friend in a few months time, that's how much trust, faith and enjoyment I have in and am getting from this machine.

Crashes and screen flickering.
The media could not be loaded. Started really early on and now Acer wants me to fork out for repairing when clearly this is a known fault with the amount of reviews that have been posted about the same thing!Wouldn’t recommend to any one. I use this for work and the impact this has caused me has been terrible. Yet alone their 10-15 day turn around on repairs! I simply cannot!

Perfect For What I Needed
This was an upgrade from a HP Pavilion laptop, and instantly I knew I’d made the right choice .... I spent months lost in the world of laptops, not knowing which to opt for. It's absolutely perfect for my daily use, its fast, efficient, the battery is ok, but could possibly be better, I don't think I could go all day from fully charged, ... and touch wood it hasn't crashed yet ! There is nothing more annoying than a laptop crashing all the time. For just shy of £700 this is a really nice high specification laptop.UPDATE - 07/02/2022Weirdly the following day after posting this review, i closed the laptop lid as i have been doing from new, but this time it didn't go into "Sleep Mode" .... i came back to it a couple of hours late and nearly burnt my hands it was that hot, It hadn't helped that i'd slipped it into a laptop sleeve, any longer and only god knows what might have happened ! .... a couple of days later while watching a downloaded film, it "Blue Screen Crashed" .... OMG ! What the hell is going on here ?

A vast improvement on my old Acer laptop
I bought this to replace the Acer I purchased four years ago, and it's more expensive but much lighter and faster than the old model. I chose Acer because all my laptops since 2003 have been Acers and I've always been happy with them. However, my most recent Acer before this one was quite heavy despite being the same screen size as the one I've just bought and I love the portability of the new one.My old one had been problematic for a while - I'm not sure whether I killed it with overwork or whether it's just that technology has improved so much over the past few years that the new model just doesn't seem to have any of the peccadilloes associated with the last one. There's no DVD drive on the new one, but since I use it mostly for work and for my MA studies, that's not a problem. There's a fast internet connection and it's happy to talk to my wireless printer. All in all, I'm very happy with it - and the colour (a metallic turquoise) is an added bonus.

After 4 hours of stress its great
This is a great laptop. Got it for uni and its fab. However! When I set it up I could not for the life of me connect it to my WiFi. Turns out it didn't have any WiFi drivers or whatever they're called so I had to download on onto my other laptop and transfer it over via memory stick. It took 4 hours of stress and confusion to sort it out. Thankfully my partner is way more tech minded than me and helped me trouble shoot and figure it out eventually. No clue why it didn't have drivers. It was an open box so maybe they were removed for display or something? I have no idea
