Shigeru Ban: Timber in Architecture
A**E
Substantial case-studies
One of the most extensive case-study books on Shigeru-ban, but more importantly, on timber and wood based architectural practices and design.

A rather solid good book for architects and designers
I am an architect so I am biased and predisposed to like Shigeru Ban projects. The ones collected here are focused on using wood, frequently in an unexpected and innovative way. The write-ups and brief and to the point, without belaboring wishy-washy language so beloved of non-architects. This is not a coffee-table book, but this is precisely why I like it! Brief, sweet and to the point, with certain construction aspects highlighted. Heartily recommend to all architects and architecture enthusiasts, but this book is not for the interior decorators furnishing bookshelves with splashy image-laden drivel, nor it is for the idle housewives and others casually perusing picture books folk. (Then again, the publisher itself is the one that focuses on proper design and architecture-related books, so that much should be clear anyways).
