This book brought me to a stunning realization!
I got SO many new insights reading this book – about myself and everything else that make up my life.I’ve been going through a rough time these last couple of years and I’ve been trying to keep my head up and go on with life. But it’s hard. And all this time I’ve constantly been sticking to, and trying to uphold the “narrative” (as the author describes it) that I have about myself. What makes me me.It’s all about our own inner narrative. It’s all about what we keep on telling ourselves, day in and day out. The problem is: I’ve devoted so much time and conscious effort to all the events that have happened recently, and wondered why they happened, and so on and so on. All the events that I believed served as distractions to what I was supposed to be doing.Maybe I’m just not very bright, but this book brought me to a stunning realization. Something I couldn’t see before. Lindstrom describes it perfectly:“But if you listen to the stories people tell, it’s almost as though these random, unforeseen and unplanned for events were not distractions from life, but the main event.””Other self-help books out there may have mountains of valuable advice on how to construct our ‘block tower’. But they don’t say anything about what to do when someone comes and knocks your tower down and you’re left with an ugly truth: your narrative of life and life itself are simply not compatible.”Again, so true! And it seems so glaringly simple, but at the time I simply couldn’t see it. All this time, this was the main cause of the struggle: the stories I told myself about myself simply wasn’t attuned with how my life actually looked like.Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that now all of a sudden everything is good and I’m not experiencing struggle in my life. Of course not, that’s ridiculous. But what I’m saying is this: I now have a new way of looking at myself and life. I feel like I’ve taken one step closer to myself and that I’ve gained a form of resilience that I didn’t have before.Thank you, Lindstrom, for introducing me to this part of myself, and for bringing me to this glaringly simple (yet so elusive) truth.

Change yourself for the better
When Life Gives You Lemons - Squeeze 'em Dry: The Power of Surrender, Humor and Compassion When the Going Gets Tough Kindle Editionby Simeon Lindstrom, is a book about change. It's self-help on virtual steroids. The author's premise is "change your internal narrative, change your life." That alone makes this an interesting book. As a tool kit for self help, this book is a valuable aid anyone taking the time to read it and trying what the author recommends. And it's clearly written, not in the least dry or clinical. Go ahead, have at those things about yourself you want to change.

Excellent!
This was a thought-provoking read and it made me reconsider my approach in many areas of my life. And I must say, the bonus material that came with this book was fantastic. It complimented the main book in so many ways. To me, buying this book was well worth the money I spent on it. Not to mention all the new insights I got, which I can't put a price on. If this is not worthy of my highest rating, I don't know what is.

Teaches us to look at life differently.
This book has really helped me to change my outlook on life and get more out of life. The author argues thats basically we have the wrong outlook on life and that if we didn't look at our lives in a predicative linear fashion we would become more resilient to the seismic shocks that happen in all our lives. He says that life doesn't follow a pattern. There are 'things" that knock us off course and by living, in our heads in either the past or future stops us seeing the next knock about to happen.
