Wow, what an amazing little set!!!!! Easy to setup, fun to play... Bought it for my 4yr old son and 2yr old daughter, they both enjoy crashing around on it, as do I.. Great beginner set, sized for children but still has amazing sound quality, I've been whaling on them too.. The throne is perfect size for kids... I really don't have anything negative to say about this purchase, at 275$ it's a steal of a deal...!!!!!

I bought this Mendy drumkit for my youngest nephew Victor, he is age 4. And it seems like a good tool to get into the drumming mood.There is everything a drummer needs, except chair and drumsticks.Pretty easy for anybody to assamble and start playing.Its not really a toy kit, and then again it is, made for small children, and sounds like a play toy drumkit, BUT still, it sounds better, than many other junior drums, and more like a semi proffesional toy kit than more common junior drums often more fragile and made from cheaper materials.This drumkit I bought to give my nephew an interest in rythm and drums in general.I think I soon will be able to measure how deep an impact his drumkit will make on his drumming interest.No doubt a cool junior kit for small children. All drums sounds good - like bright toy drums, and there is something cute about how they look.Most importently is that this kit is very usable. This was one of the best purchases I ever made for my boys. First off, this is a real drum kit, it is not a toy. It is just a scaled down version... and it looks and sounds amazing. The quality is very good - the wood, hardware and tools are excellent considering the price. It helps to have an understanding of how drum kits go together - as this requires full assembly. This includes placing and tuning the heads, setting up the hardware, etc. As with just about any new kit, the heads do ring some - so I recommend picking up some damping pads - we used Moongel Percussion Damping Gels, which you can pick up at just about any music store (or on Amazon for about $6). The snare is adjustable, and the kit comes with a tuning key for the other heads. I can play these as an adult (ok.. my knees are a bit cramped), and they still sound great.... and they are perfect size for my 9 year old. I compared these to a $399 starter kit at Guitar Center, and this kit is better made and sounds better. It does need another cymbal, though, as it has only one splash. I spent a few bucks on another cymbal and some new sticks (the sticks that come with this are 'junior' sized, and my kid has big hands). Because of the quality, it can really take a beating, too... very sturdy.. even at the hands of an overly aggressive 9 or 15 year old. This is a great kit for any young aspiring drummer... or anyone who just likes to bang on things!
