The media could not be loaded. This balaclava keeps us TOASTY warm when we wear it. My older kids (teens & tweens) & I share it, though it also fits my younger kids.We all like the unique features of this balaclava, having a drawstring, to pull the face nice & TIGHT to keep SNOW out when you are sledding down a hill, as well as the 2 piece feature.When it is not as cold out, we have worn the neck part as a headband, around our ears. It is SUPER soft & protects our ears from the wind & cold, when it is not cold enough out to wear both pieces, but cold enough that we need some weather protection.The neck warmer is SOFT inside, & lined with a dreamy micro fleece. I like that when I put it over my ears, my hair does NOT get all crazy & full of static, like when we use knitted ear bands. I am not in a fashion show when out walking, but it is still nice NOT to have static filled hair, standing up on end. If we get too hot while walking, it is easy enough to slip our ears out of the ear warmer, & use it solely as a headband.LOVE the multitude of ways to wear it!The headpiece/ hood has the same DREAMY micro fleece inside of it, & a polyester blend on the lower part of the BIB area & around where the front frames the face.It is COMFY, very WARM, & easy to adjust.After seeing the product photos when I came her to write my review, I see we have been wearing it the "WRONG" way with the neck warmer part OVER the bottom of the hood, but it has served us well that way. Now that I saw the "RIGHT" way to wear it, I am going to have to try that. lolOverall, this is a GREAT balaclava that protects from the wind, snow, sleet, hail, etc. The 2 pieces are NICE to have.I WOULD purchase it again.

very warm-would recommend this product

So I just received this and haven't tried it out, but have tried it on. My purpose for this purchase was to have a separate hood that would fit over my wool Stormy Kromer cap and 3M hearing protection muffs for running the wood splitter, and my concern was getting a hood too tight and close-fitting to accomodate the large muffs. For my setup the back of my head freezes when working in a west wind and wearing a stocking cap doesn't allow the muffs to seal against my skin, letting in way too much splitter noise. So a hood seemed to be a solution, and I'm very happy to say this one is just loose-fitting enough to accomodate the muffs and yet seems to be a perfectly appropriate size without them. Well designed, and while the fabric has yet to be tested for wind resistance it is reasonably thick without being too bulky and very soft. I'll second the observation that the neck gaiter is tight. I already have an assortment of these so it may or may not get used, especially with the bulk already at the neck of the hood. The gaiter material feels comfortable enough for just trying it on but wearing it for a long time might prove uncomfortable just because of its tightness.

The qualtiy of the hood and neck warmer seem really good, however the hood is unlined and the wind comes right through it. The hood would probably be great for an early fall or a spring day, but it is not warm enough for winter weather, especially with a breeze. I think the neck/face warmer/covering will be great for winter.As far as fit, I have a smaller head, and both the head and neck warmer both fit fine. I will still use the hood, but not during cold months.
