Q: Old yellow air vent caps required 1/2" hole. Will these vent caps work in the hole originally made for the yellow vents?

The kit includes an 8mm drill bit which is .315" inch. The widest part of these vent caps (the inside-the-tank part) is about a 1/2", which means it would move, creating an air gap. My guess is that when tightened the caps will pull through the 1/2" hole. So, these vent caps will not work unless you are able to creatively bridge the gap with washers that don't slip, etc. IMO, not worth the effort and frustration.

Hi, thanks for inquiring. The vent cap is made specifically to release container pressure and due to size different, its unlikely to fit the tire valve core screw.

Q: Are these the same thread size as a car tire cap? Can I use a car wheel cap to cap them off if lost ??

Yes-They are standard tire valves (without the valve mechanism). Included are the valves, washers, caps (all metal), & a drill bit to install them in metal or poly fuel cans. The current “gas cans” sold today are self-venting, & make quite a mess when used as they vent, burp, & spew fuel. These valves allow the cans to breathe & dispense fuel quickly without spewing.
