The Wordless Travel Book: Point at These Pictures to Communicate with Anyone

Great for use with people who have aphasia
This little book comes in handy during my aphasia group meetings. I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP). I run aphasia communication groups. Aphasia is an acquired communication disorder resulting from a "brain" thing. Most often, people acquire aphasia as a result of a stroke, but can also get it from a head injury, brain infection, tumor, progressive brain disorder, etc. Aphasia can impact communication output systems, such as talking, writing and making meaningful gestures (like gesturing for people to "come here") and/or communication input systems like understanding what you read, what people say to you or what gestures mean (like the gesture one might make if you cut them FB in traffic). In my groups, people with aphasia use the books to point to items when they cannot say the word. The additional benefit is the small size. They fit into a pocket neatly.

THE BEST WORLD TRAVEL HELPER!
This little book has been a joy to carry with us on world trips. I am an English speaker with only a slight working knowledge of the romance languages-- but was lost in Asia. My husband and I prefer to take local transportation to small out of the way places-- travel light and eat & sleep "locally". This tool was especially helpful in restaurants, street venders, hostels, hotels and bus stations throughout SE Asia. In our experience, the big cities and tourist spots often had pictures representing food one could purchase. This was not always the case in central China, for example. We had an abbreviated version while traveling the Amazon and in the Andes. It was equally helpful there and made for great, spontaneous entertainment with the children aboard our Amazon local boats. The book is only slightly larger than a passport so easily kept in your pocket. If you plan to be in the "boonies"--don't go without THE WORDLESS TRAVEL BOOK!

Get the book
The book is a fine idea; my Kindle Paperwhite was not. I love my Kindle, but I was not able to make it work for point-and-show to others. The images were too small and the black and white made the content hard to recognize on my screen; and flipping to other pages was a not easy.Get the book. It would have received 4 stars from me.

This is crap for use on a cell phone
I bought this to use on my iPhone. For international travel. The pictures don’t rotate on the screen. They’re too tiny to show up well even when zooming on a screen. This might be an ok physical book, but it’s a terrible ebook.

Almost too easy to believe but do believe!
Fits in a pocket but large enough pictures to allow people to understand what you are pointing at.Can be used anywhere even without phone connection or WiFi & no need to charge it!

Always have one of these in your possession while traveling abroad
While travel abroad, my late husband and I always had one of these in our pocket. I now give them as gifts to my grandchildren...

Terrific problem solver!
Terrific problem solver, recommend for traveling to any country were the language differs from your own. Also very helpful for hospital, convalescent, or hospice situations where patient is unable to speak or speak clearly. Also for children as a learning tool. I used it to locate eyeglass repair, communicating that I do not eat red meat, and to determine how hot the spice was on menu items!! Fits in a pocket and now even more conveniently on my smart phone - making it easy to find and use!! Cool tool.

Just right
I think this is going to work great. Lots of easy to see pictures and sized to fit in your shirt pocket. Sturdy.

Multi-purpose book
Very clever idea! Combine pointing at the pictures with your smattering of any language, and you can make yourself understood. On a serious note, it's a great option for people with speech difficulties and memory problems, as it's much easier to point at a picture than try to say the word.

not good. Could have drawn better pictures myself in some ...
Hmmm ... not good. Could have drawn better pictures myself in some cases and a lot of it totally superfluous. Dispatched to the charity shop - someone might pick it up as a jokey Christmas pressie and make a few bob for a worthy cause. I can see other uses ... but mostly around using it as a tool for charade like games!

and some more useful ones missing
This was priceless on our holiday in China! The locals all thought it was entertaining too. Some odd pictures, and some more useful ones missing, but generally does the job.

The Wordless Travel Book
By far the best of its type on the market, with little drawings instead of photographs, so you can indicate exactly what is needed - photos invariably include "unwanted stuff".Size just right for carrying in the pocket, stiff, wipe-clean pages won't easily tear or become grubby.

would recommend printing some symbols and laminating that instead
Could help you get something across where otherwise you might struggle, but not all that handy. Very expensive for what it is, would recommend printing some symbols and laminating that instead.
