The Kite Runner - Khales Hosseini
The Kite Runner gives us a look into Afghanistan both before and after the fall of the government. We see the story through the eyes of two young boys growing up there, two very different boys or so they think.Amir has grown up among wealth and privilege, enjoying the status his father holds, Hassan is the son of the servant and confidant of his father. The two boys are inseparable, spending time with Amir reading Hassan and telling him of the stories he writes,as well as flying kites to see how can cut the most and running after the fallen kite. The two are all most like brothers, until that day! That day their was a shift in the two boys relationship, a shift that high lighted the differences. It was not until years, decades later really that Amir learns the truth, how not so different they were. This was an excellent story and the illustrations are great. Though the story is graphic it is a story of culture and of life in Afghanistan. The Kite Runner is often on the reading list for high school students and rightly so. Though a graphic novel this is a good telling of the novel and told in a way that will interest and captivate the hard or reluctant reader.

I loved the original "Kite Runner" and bought this one hoping it would be a little milder for readers who are a little less mature. It still is pretty heavy, but not quite as much as the novel. I love the story, the details are just hard to read in places.

The Kite Runner Graphic Novel
I was told this was a wonderful book to read. So I ordered it for my kindle. I am very disappointed because I cannot read it on my kindle. It is rather small and all broaken up. I Figured it would have some pictures but not completely like a comic book. for the price I paid with Tax it was not worth the cost to me. I am really disappointed. I do love to read and your other comments were not explanitory about the graphics. Is there a way to read this on my kindle that I do not know? I read through the Kindle manual but nothing about enlarging the graphics so that I could read each set. Is there another version that could be exchanged for this one that is more a story then a cartoon version?

Beautiful
Beautiful graphic rendering of a beautifully sad and hopeful friendship. Love all of Khaled Hosseini's books. One of my favorite authors and one of my favorite stories.

Breathtaking read - must read!
Ooo the glory of this book and the message of hope it brings into the bleakest of settings...loved the book so much that I did a second iteration of the whole work as soon as I completed it once - that's something very rare, here. Spectacular work, to say the least. Breathtakingly realistic portrayal of a 'growing up' tale from the Afghan lands - the land of Pashtuns - & how the world changed for the people of the land, post revolution, followed by Russian invasion and later, in house Talibanism - it's all Khaled Hosseini of course, what more to say of the best selling author's works. Add then to it the beautiful illustrations and breathtaking colouring of this work, it is definitely a must buy, for not only those Hosseini fans but also the fans of coloured graphic novels.

Beautiful
I've bought this for teaching purposes. I've read the original novel myself so the purpose for me buying this was to support the lower ability students with their reading (I always get graphic novel as well as original novel if I can). It is beautifully illustrated and really brings the story to life. There is nothing lost from Hosseini's original text and in fact I feel Fabio Celoni and Mirka Andolfo have enhanced the narrative with their choice of illustrations. This edition is high quality colour and looks like it should be glossy pages when in fact their matt but are such good quality there isn't a fear of tearing. Although it is a paperback edition it comes with the built-in book flaps that dust jackets usually have so pages can be remembered.

Read with an open mind as quite dramatic and horrific
A good insight in to what children can be subjected to. Quite a sad read.
