One of the healthiest flour
Due to my healthy deit schedule was thinking about cutting down wheat so was looking for some substitute which is healthy and tasty and won't crave me for wheat chapatis.Came across lentil pulse flour, first thing indid is googled it's health benefits and I was truly amazed looking at it .. It has high levels of protein and fiber, lentil flour earns the award for most nutrient-dense pulse flour.. so I had to order this.. now would be making bhakri chapatis out of these flour..

Now my baking is part of my 5 a day!
This nutritious flour smells slightly of peas. I've made blueberry muffins, chocolate and ginger muffins and high protein bread, all gluten free. They taste slightly different to usual but very nice and with a springy texture. I'm reducing the amount of normal flour every time and adding this, milked flax and teff to see how far I can push it. Well, I'm still pushing and still eating it. I'm a coeliac trying to reduce weight and become more fit. This flour is helping!

Impressive
I liked the idea of this flour especially with it being high protein and fibre. I used it today when I baked a loaf. Using strong white bread flour I used 1/5 ratio of this flour, the dough appeared a little stickier than my normal so added a small amount more of bread flour. After a good kneeding the dough turned out well and soon started rising. There was a slight odour of peas, the loaf baked well, crust was darker than normal as was the bread itself. Taste wise….it was really tasty, had a more whole meal taste and slightly sweeter….no taste of peas!I was impressed with the results and look forward to trying it in cakes next .

NIHKAN Sprouted Mix Lentil Flour - Pity My Bag Had Opened
It smelt so highly of peas the box it came in as the packaging had a gap only a small one in the seal making the product no longer air tight.A shame as the flour had gone slightly harder and in some parts stuck more than it should look like. I should imagine as not seen this before so was interested in trying it out.So unfortunately not one for us to try to use to make something interesting with. Instructions and ideas of how to use are given on the outside of the packet and yes if it hadn’t had the seal issue it had would have been fun to try to make something that bit different with it.Was looking at a slightly healthier option of baking and this I thought may be one of those ingredients to help make them.Sadly it’s got to be just a three star as its should have been checked before leaving the place where it’s made. Only a small gap but enough to make a difference to the texture of the item.

A welcome addition to my dry goods cupboard.
I've been playing with this flour for a couple of days. It took me a while to get the hang of it ... but I can now produce some very tasty, interestingly crispy crepes with it. The instructions on the packet are minimal though, so I had to hit the internet to find a simple recipe. I already use gram and buckwheat flour quite a lot, and plan to experiment switching to half and half.Flavour-wise, it tastes very much as you'd expect given what it's made from ... slightly of peas/pulses - something that will be very familiar to anyone who already uses pea-based pasta. It's not an overpowering taste at all (in fact it smells stronger than it tastes) and I very much like it. It's more suitable for savoury foods than sweet, however.A good way of adding more healthy protein to your diet.
