Shapton Glass Stone #320 Grit 5mm

My first experience with Shapton glass, and I love this 320. I'll use a diamond plate for really heavy work, but for basic edge repairs or reshaping this stone has great feel, good speed with relatively minimal scratching. Did not care for the Shapton 320 Pro, as it created so much slurry that it felt like slogging through a mud bath. Same, for me, with the Chosera 400. This one's a keeper.

I did my homework before I bought this stone and I’m happy to report it was money well spent. I needed a rough stone to bring my dull knives back to effective working condition and this one met my lofty expectations. The plan is to buy the 1000 and 6000 next so I have a complete set.

Stone was as described and like all Shapon products excellent for sharpening. However the packaging was for shipment was very poor it could have been easily damaged in the light envelope.

Have both the Shapton Pro 320 and Shapton Glass 320. The Pro 320 feels great, cuts great and wears at a moderate rate. The Shapton Glass 320 feels better, cuts better and wears at a much slower rate then the Pro stone. The Pro 320 will do anything the Glass 320 can do, but what you get with the glass is a more premium stone, whether that is worth the extra $20 dollars to get the Glass stone over the Pro is up to you. Either way you cannot go wrong.
