Really sweet book :)
Really nice book. It's nice to have a book to read to your children explaining what different holidays mean and that it's ok to celebrate more then one an be mixed !It's a smaller print for a child's book so it's a nice sit down book that will take longer then 5 minutes to read. The pictures are very sweet and a good way to explain what a menorah is and what a christmas tree is etc. cute cute cute!

Perfect but short
For a 2-1/2 year old enjoying his first real holiday season (too young last year), this was perfect but it is very short. His Mom is Jewish and dad Christian. Like many families they have menorah, tree and stockings.

A book for both Jews and Christians
This book shows the ways both Jews and Christians celebrate. It's well written, but I would have like a few more details.

Great idea but boring.....
I ordered this book for a 3 years old child in the interfaith family thinking that it will explain the two holidays - Christmas and Hannukah - to a child in an interesting form. It does tells about the 2 holidays but it is so boring that it's hard to get a child, whom normally you can read several books at a time, to get through the end of it. I thought it was a great thing to buy a book on this subject but unfortunately it's quite uninteresting even for a child.

Too short
The story was too short and didn't really tie Hanukkah and Christmas together as well as I would have liked.

Lovely book about a family celebrating two holidays
The children in my classroom of 3, 4, and 5 year olds enjoyed this book. They could relate to the clear illustrations and story line. I appreciated having a book that reflects the celebrations that happen in many children's homes.

Lovely illustrations but no explanations!
Emma's family celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas; so the first half of this short book explains about lighting the menorah and then once that is put away, the second half of the book describes the family choosing their Christmas tree.I can imagine that this is a lovely book for children who celebrate both festivals and the illustrations really are very beautiful. However, I was hoping that there would be some explanation as to why we celebrate the significance of the menorah and the reasons behind Hanukkah. So, for me, this book was something of a disappointment. Beyond the illustrations there isn't enough of a narrative to hold my children's attention. It's a pretty book but it felt like a missed opportunity!

The best of its kind
Beautifully written with positive text and evocative imagery. A genuinely lovely book to demonstrate the similarities between the two holidays. The best book I have come across on the subject of celebrating both Hanukkah and Christmas. Enables children to see parallels for themselves whilst understanding and respecting the different religious traditions behind the holidays.

Nice to have something covering this subject
A great idea to have a book that talks about how some families have two cultures but it is pretty boring!! I did like the way it didn't really go into any deep religion but it is not the sort of book my daughter chooses at bedtime either, such a shame because an engaging interesting book on this subject would be very helpful.

Light the lights
Perfect reading for a child in the same situation. Very easy for a child to understand. Beautifully illustrated. I recommend it.
