Great drain for koi pond
Overall a great product!Just purchased 2nd Koi Toilet II drain to remodel my pond. This new drain cover is not as sturdy as the old one from 2010. When left out in the sun the cover warped a lot. I had to take a heat gun to it to get it mostly straight and even around the edge. Protect from heat until you get it installed. As far as small fish getting in… I have had that happen so I trimmed the 1/2” pvc pipes that hold the cover down to decrease the gap at the bottom. Still plenty of flow at 5/8” gap.

Cheap material
I bought this bottom drain for little bit over 2 years ago. Built a new pond and installed it in 1.5 years ago. Yesterday when I came out to feed my koi and discovered that the top of the bottom drain was broken by itself. It was built w a very thin cheap plastic, therefore, it broken so easily, when I first install the cap on by pressing them down in place, then when the water temp changed In the winter, the cap came off. I had to drained my pond and used glue to keep them stay permanently. Now it’s broken, I don know how to replace it bc those 3 holes are glued already so I just can buy another one and snap the cap back on. Stupid design and cheap materials. Don’t buy it!!!!

Best Fish Toilet for the money
I installed this in my new 3500gal koi pond. Hooked it up to 4" ABS drain line and a DIY 3 container gravity fed filter system. It works great and was cheaper than any others out there with the same features. This is a solid product that will clear out the Kio crap for years to come.

Needs coupling
So you know, this will need a coupling to connect to a 4inch pvc pipe. This drain and the pipe are the males and you need a double female coupling.

Not really small fish friendly
It works, BUT be prepared to have small fish sucked under it and into your pump or filter basket. AND just try to remove it 3ft under water. I attached it to the pond liner and laid mortar around it, so now I am trying to adapt a normal grate into the fitting so I can just remove the dome top and leave it off. I am tired of finding dead fish in the basket.

Definitely recommend
Super easy install. I've been running this in my pond all summer, about 6 months. I have 25+ koi. I did have a could of small goldfish get sucked through it, but they were very small. This works great and is a much better value compared to a $250 koi toilet.
