But the pair I received were EXACTLY the color pictured.> Beware that amber is not a hard gemstone. All amber has to be handled and treated with care. Amber is not a recommended gift for a careless child. It terms of wear, amber is like fairly soft plastic. That, by the way, is the reason that amber is rarely faceted --- amber is too soft to retain sharp facets edges over years of wear. And for the same reason, amber does not have the refractive index of even ordinary glass, and so any facets do not sparkle the way a diamond or other gemstones do.

These are absolutely beautiful earrings. The red is rich and in the light it almost glows. Just the right size for a statement piece of jewelry, but comfortable enough for everyday wear.
