I purchased two of these and, at first, I really couldn't tell whether or not the deer were using it. They're really good sized and last a long time. After being out back for a month or so, I can see how worn down it is and have seen the deer licking on it. AWWW. I love my critters and it's nice to watch them enjoying their treats and knowing that they're getting some good minerals to help them over the Winter. Some of my deer looked very thin this past summer . I purchased this to help give them some much-needed minerals along with plenty of corn ,apples, and acorns. We have to remember that the deer are being forced out of their natural habitat by humans and construction. I feel sorry for them. I've seen many that were paper thin and it scared me because I didn't know how they would survive the Winter. I feel good about putting these out since they're all natural and give the deer what they need.

So I originally bought this for the whitetail deer in my yard but they didn’t touch it so I returned it. However, I still give 5 stars because it was packaged very well, the salt rock was huge and the rope that it came with was very sturdy. If I was a deer I would eat it but I guess some are picky eaters and some aren’t. Though, I don’t know how long it would have lasted if they did eat it, I think it was a good value for my money.

I recently moved out on acreage and had always heard of a salt lick for deer, but had no idea what they were. They're pretty much exactly like the rock lamps you see everywhere. I put two of them out, one is visible from my living room window where I watch the deer actually licking it! It's such an awesome thing to see! It doesn't look as though it will need to be replaced any time soon, either. The top was originally slightly pointed and is now flat. I will buy more an put them further out as well. Very pleased!

Our lovely family of deer love these salt licks and they are very good value for money as you get two in a pack! They last along time unless you get a lot of really heavy frequent rain, which happens sometimes. But I always keep a stock of them in the house for all our wild friends who visit our wooded back yard. It’s the very least I can do considering that our house was built on their land!

This product weighs nowhere near the advertised weight. We ordered two salt licks. One weighed a 1/2 lb short and the other didn’t even weigh five pounds. Find an honest seller.
