A Course in Miracles (The Text; The Workbook; The Manual for Teachers)

I ordered this book because I have started taking a course in miracles class. It teaches you how to change your thoughts from negative to positive. You would think that would be easy to do but it is actually difficult because we have thousands of negative thoughts every day. Pushing those out of your mind and replacing them with positive thoughts is a daily task.This book has the daily reading, daily lessons, and a teachers manual, all in one book.

This book changed my life and it will change your life too. I discovered this book and the course thru a podcast by Philip Urso. This book is written in iambic pentameter- for example: Shakespeare's sonnets are written predominantly in a meter called iambic pentameter, a rhyme scheme in which each sonnet line consists of ten syllables. Once you discover this- the reading has a better rhythm. There are many discussion groups online that assist one as they are going thru the course. The book I purchased was slightly used, the cover was a bit worn, but that did not change the caliber of enlightenment inside this book. A must-read for all people who want to become a better person. This is not a religious book and it does not step on the toes of any religious belief. No matter what faith you have or lack of faith you have- this book is designed to help you "wake up." Read the book and you will know what I mean by that. The course gives you a daily lesson, so it's not a book you can powerhouse through. It will easily take you a year to read this book, because the 365 lessons are designed for you to absorb and better yourself on a daily level. Ideally, you could read it front to back and pay no attention to the recommendation to read a chapter a day. While this is possible, I feel you will take away more from the course if you follow the guidelines recommended in the book. Enjoy!

I have been reading "A Course in Miracles" since I purchased my first copy in a secondhand bookshop in London nearly 40 years ago. It is one of my mainstays, like "The Urantia Book". Today I ask what page has relevance for me and hear "68", which is about "The Rewards of God". This section wants me to be aware how much of my thinking is ego-directed, believing the illusion that I am other than my eternal Self. When I understand that I am one with humanity and God, and trust God for guidance, instead of my ego, the results will convince me this was the best choice. This choice will bring me into the presence of eternal peace and joy, which I value. I am grateful to others for holding this frequency for me. As I then hold this frequency, I help others reach it. We are collaborators in the Kingdom of God, in which Love sets all things right. Although this language sounds "churchy" to me, it also strikes me on a much deeper level, where my heart is hearing the words and my soul is responding with a resounding "Yes!" I promote this book in the Wellness Center where I volunteer, and hope to get a group going soon discussing the teachings in the book.

I love this book as it teaches you many lessons but it is a little hard to comprehend. You have to take your time with it.

As a person who was given a second chance at a life worth living, via 12 step recovery, I am always on the lookout for ways to enhance my spirituality and connection to my Higher Power. I had heard of A Course In Miracles, but knew nothing about it. I was recommending another book to a friend and someone else told me that I HAD to read Marianne Williamson's A Return To Love (Reflections on the principles of A Course In Miracles). I now include the daily lesson in my morning readings, prior to meditation. I also pray at least twice a day, read my Bible, attend church and recovery meetings regularly and follow all of the MANY suggestions given to me. I keep an open mind as to avoid "contempt prior to investigation". I am about 50 lessons into the Course and am pleased with the results thus far. Btw, absolutely nothing controversial or conflicting with basic Christian principles.

A very complex adventure into Love. A very slow course, but worth it because as one approaches the end of the study material, the world is seen with a much clearer vision, a vision I can only explain as new, not necessarily better or worse, just new. Sharper. Truer. And a world I am quite sure I have never seen like this before, not in a movie, not on TV, not traveling to foreign places, not ever before that I can remember, not even a dream or a wish I'd had from a fairy tale of paradise. It's all New for me right now. I am going to read this again and see if I can get even clearer, or maybe I just want more. This book is all about Love.

For anyone thinking of getting into A Course in Miracles, either skip the first chapter or breeze through it. Unfortunately, it is written in such obscure, arcane language, too many people don't get to chapter two. But chapter two onward is not written in the same way. I'm not saying it is easy, but it is understandable. This isn't a book you read fast anyways.I like that this includes the workbook. I'm doing the exercises. By the second week, I could see myself changing, noticing instances of my ego projection much more.

When you are ready, you will read and do the work of "A Course in Miracles". I have been a student of the ACIM for 30 yeras or more and it is still the one thing I go back to when I feel my life needs to be set back on track or my perceptions of the world around me need adjustments. It is Spirituality without religion so no matter what your faith, you will find it non invasive with your beliefs. You be the judge. If you find it is not for you, so be it. Even "ACIM" states, (para-phrasing) "there are many ways to attain the Truth in the world today, this is just one way to save a thousand years".
