Armitron Adventure Unisex AD/1002NVSVBN Solar Powered Date Function Dial Brown Leather Strap Watch

This is the loudest quartz watch in terms of "tick tick tick" that I've had on my wrist in a long time. I was disappointed to see the product box say "CHINESE MVMT" and "MADE IN CHINA" as the advertised movement was listed as Japanese. Having several Citizen Eco-Drive watches I was hoping for the similar backlash free second hand and barely discernible "ticking" of the watch.The plusses: It's a cheap solar watch that works. I did a quick charge with an LED flashlight and the watch was working inside ten minutes. The genuine leather band is surprisingly good quality. It is lightweight and comfortable on the wrist. The hour and minute hands do have illumination paint stripes.The minusses. It is loud, with a "chirrrp" sound per second rather than a crips "tick" or "click." The bezel is sixty clicks but has a lot of play, and is also loud. The caseback is a press fit rather than a screw in type, which is likely the reason for only 50 meters of water resistance. The second hand does not line up with the minute hash marks on the chapter ring all the way around the dial. The illumination paint stripes on the hour and minute hand fade very quickly, this is not a Seiko or Citizen level lume job.Overall impression. This is not a quality watch, but I bought it to serve as a field watch. I had high hopes as the watch does possess many of the qualities of a good field watch, doesn't need a battery replaced, luminous hands.Final verdict. I do not recommend this watch to anyone who needs to rely on a wristwatch, but it would be fine for a teenager who has a problem being on time to wear. At this price point it is hard to justify the Armitron Adventure over a Citizen Eco-Drive for only a little bit more for someone who needs a dependable watch in all conditions. For any sort of cosplay or as a fashion watch to tell time it will be perfectly fine as a "desk diver" style.

i also bought a timex and a citizen solar dive style watch. the armitron looks as nice as them but doesn't have the tech built in the other two do. They charge more in less light and hold it longer. Also the lume on the hands is terrible. Still it looks nice, feels well built and didn't cost a fortune.Update! A year later this has outdone the timex in durability and function. It is still functioning like it did new, while the timex now needs more charge time and holds it less. The citizen is still the class of the bunch but now only by lume. The armitron might was well not have lume for as useful as it is(isn't).

I wear this often. I has a nice feel to it and simple, clean look. The date window is tiny though so at a quick glance you can't see the date. I don't understand why so many watches have so tiny date displays. The one-directional bezel sometimes its too easy to move; not a big issue though.Lastly, it would've been nice to have a backlit display to tell the time in the dark. The illuminated hands only keep their charge for a few minutes after being exposed to bright light, so it's not practical to use this watch if you want to tell time in dark conditions.Oh, the leather strap feel good on wrist. I also think it has a nice look to it.

Like the mineral crystal. Working uni-direction bezel. Wish it had "day" along with date.

I really love my watch. I wish it were a little smaller in overall size, but all in all I'm happy!

as of a couple weeks: loving the watch- simple to set up, attractive bezel and face. great everyday watch. very poor lume but im very satisfied with everything else so far.

Probably the cheapest watch in my collection. I have about 50 watches, but this is the one I reach for more than any other.
