The Kid in the Red Jacket

I bought this to read with my 2nd and 4th grade sons just prior to our own cross-country move. It was a hit. My kids liked that the boy in the story is going through the same things that they are. It is a sweet story that made us all laugh out loud. I love finding a good book written from a tween boys' perspective that gets where they are in life but doesn't need to resort to bathroom humor to connect with them.

maybe this a good book, but as a parent I don’t like the story. the characters in this book can find in real life, that’s a good point, but kid think the bad behavior is funny.

The book shipped to me has a tear between the spine and the front cover. I would not expect this subpar condition from a full priced book. Disappointing.The book itself is amazing. Kids who are otherwise disengaged from reading find the character relatable and hilarious. I would recommend the book itself.

This story is told from the point of view of a boy who’s the new kid in school. Touching and hysterical, with some real life lessons that help your kids become more kind and empathetic. I read it during the start of every school year and enjoyed it as much as the kids did. I love this book!

This is, by far, one of the best realistic fiction books ever written for kids. I use it to train my kids in literature circles, and they have excellent discussions about it. I have read this book with my classes at least 15 times, and I never get tired of it. Great for 4th or 5th graders (and their teachers)!
