Combat Corpsman: A Navy SEAL Medic in Vietnam

Get ready to be in the Middle of Vietnam...
Gripping, page turner! It felt like I was there,..watching, waiting, feeling the heat, hearing the jungle sounds, feeling the heart stopping excitement and the devastation of loss. What a True, very real insight into the mind of someone who was there! The details were vivid, with enough to set the scene but without the unnecessary fluff or excessive gore. The timeline easy to follow. The narrative was regular, normal, "people talk" without all the huge vocabulary that sends you to a dictionary. I felt as if I were in the middle of Vietnam, sitting on a crate, chatting with Greg McPartin. Excellent read! Looking forward to all books by this author.

I was a USAF Pararescueman. I served in the misnomer'd "Vietnam WAR" while in The NeverEverLand of Laos from 1967-1969. I was trained by SOG at REDONDO school, Nha Trang, RSVN and OJT'd at The Navel Support Activity China Beach. I was a Combat Medic (Corpsman) and I Am Very Proud I Served My Nation in this time of critical importance over the communism of Southeast Asia. I flew missions as a 'PJ' on The Jolly Green helicopters (HH-53B/C) from the northern 'tri-border' of China, North Vietnam, and Laos to the southern 'tri-border' of Cambodia, South Vietnam, and Laos (sometimes even further south). This is an authentic depiction of a Combat Corpsman with the SEAL's. I have several SOG CCN, CCC, and CCS friends who can verify this previous statement.DC SurferDoc Johnson

Combat Corpsman
This has been a very interesting book from page one. Hard to believe this was a true story with all of the action and bloody fighting by these Seals. This Corpsman was truly brave and remorseful in his six month tour of duty in Vietnam. I really enjoyed this book and the Author did a fantastic job plus all the great photos. Thanks..

Quite interesting and pretty well written!
Overall a very good read with enough action to keep the reader on top of it! McPartlin seems to have talent and ability to keep the reader interested in going on through the whole book. Of particular importance is that the platoon survived without any major injuries nor deaths; rather amazing considdering that period in the Vietnam War.

Great read on Seals in Vietnam
This book was very informative and had a great oversight on the day-to-day life in SEAL teams in Vietnam living on the river.

Why does he keep calling himself a SEAL? Its irritating and undermines his veracity
I think the guy calls himself a Navy SEAL, but he's not. Too bad. I have heard the corpsmen that served with SEALs went on the same dangerous missions as the SEALs themselves, but they didn't get the credit. He makes it clear he was a corpsman that served with the SEAL's, then calls himself a SEAL. He ain't. Too bad he has to fib. His service, if true, should be enough for him.

Hard to put down
Great to read from an SEAL Corpsman in Vietnam. He didn't do anything different than other SEALS, except he was a medic, keeping people alive no matter what side they were on. What a great read!
