This is an expensive product and I expected a degree of constructional finesse. Sadly the stitching is uneven, the leather is cheap, the straps don’t match, the rivets are badly set, the fittings are poor quality - I could go on but hey, I’ve made my point.Yes, it would work as an apron if you were a short thin teenager.Let me explain: The straps are far too short for comfort and constrain movement, the fittings are cheap gunmetal castings and the length is far to short to offer adequate protection from spillage or molten metal.The leather is stiff and unyielding (although to be fair this could be oiled to improve its flexibility).I have improved mine by replacing the straps, buckles and and oiling the whole thing with neatsfoot oil to make the leather supple enough to use comfortably. I have also slicked the back with gum tragacanth to flatten down the badly finished leather.In short, the apron looks good on the page but it certainly would not have worked for me without replacement straps.

Original item was marked as delivered (at midnight!) when I hadn’t been. I contacted the sellers and they arranged for a replacement to be sent straight away. It arrived a few days later and I’m really pleased. The apron is a Christmas present for my partner so not be used yet but it looks to be exactly what he’s looking for.

Very thick leather. Straps are also leather. Very good quality. Comfortable. Lots of pocket space.Happy husband.
