Nice Go Set
This is a well made set, and is priced right for someone who is starting their Go experience. It looks great, but does not cost a lot.

Great beginner board
Great beginner board. This was my first board. It's smaller than a standard size board, but still has a full 19 x 19 grid. The drawers for the stones are very convenient. I didn't have any quality problems other reviews mention--the board was in fine quality and all the stones were there. One thing that's important, though, is that the instructions for gameplay that come with the board are very poor. It seems like it was a very poor translation to English. You're much better off reading the rules online somewhere. If you're just starting out, Chinese rules might be simpler, but if you're in the US, you'll play mostly Japanese rules (AGA rules aren't very much different from Japanese rules either).

Great Board
One thing everyone should know before buying this board is the is is SMALLER than a normal board. It follows that the board will have smaller pieces so buying fancier pieces to replace the plastic ones will be a waste of money. The dimensions are in the description. The sliding drawers do not have any type of seal, but if you absolutely need one, I'm sure your local hobby shop or hardware store will have something to fix that. With that being said, I really like this board. I play for fun and have little money for extra things like this so this works well. It is easy to transport in its box. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had no problem with lines rubbing off during shipping. Mine came in a larger box with many plastic air bags for cushioning and had no damage what so ever. The durability rating has no basis as I have yet to do anything damaging to it. From how it feels, dropping the board from waist height could possibly break it. I, however, do not plan on testing my theory.

Great Starter Board - I'm not sure why people are complaining.
I purchased this set because the price was right. Only after it shipped did I read the reviews. Some were horrible. I expected the worst. But when the set came, everything was exactly as described and pictured above. The drawers are smooth. Nice finish. Clear straight solid lines. 180 white plastic "stones" 181 black stones. Each "stone" is about the size of an average thumbnail. The board is smaller than many others I've encountered, at only 12x12". But it plays very nice, and it isn't hard to remove stones. The light plastic sticks to your fingers quite easily. The best part about the board is it's completely encased drawers. Even with the pieces inside the drawers, when the drawers are closed you can turn the set upside-down and shake it around and NONE of the stones managed to find their way into the deep innards of the set. Impressive. All in all: good stuff.

Quality goban for the price. Excellent beginners board.
This is a decent little Go board, but it isn't anything special. The board is durably constructed, but the painted on lines may eventually fade over time if the board is used extensively. The trays on either side are adequate for holding the pieces (which were included with the board). My only real complaint about this board is the pieces are functional but they are pretty cheap, but for the price I really shouldn't be complaining. It would have been nice if the trays had latches to keep them shut during transport. The true Go aficionado will probably turn his/her nose down at this product (some Go boards are nothing short of being considered works of art), but if you are a casual player or are just starting the hobby this is an excellent buy to get you started.

Keep game pieces in plastic bags, or they will end up in a parallel ‘case’ universe.
Clever design to have two draws to keep the pieces. When unpacking, I made the mistake of removing the game pieces from the plastic bags. This caused may pieces to ‘fall’ out of the drawer and get ‘lost’ in the interior of the case. The drawers are NOT removable, so getting the lost pieces back out of the case took some time and a few expletives. You MUST keep the pieces in a bag that fits into the drawers, so that when moving (or storing on its side, as I need to) the game board pieces do end up in a parallel ‘case’ universe. The board size is (12 x 12 inches), though playable, could (with hindsight) have been bigger. The pieces are small (dia ~ 1.2 CM) and light (0.4 gr or 0.01 oz each). Difficult to play outside with a little wind since the pieces easily shift on the board when ‘blown’ or touched when you add / remove a piece. Large hands, as I have, are also a challenge, when working with the pieces.Good starter / beginner set, even though the included rules are minimalistic. Better to go to your local “GO” association. In my case the American Go Association (https://www.usgo.org) to see the game rules and practice.

The pieces are so small, my 10 year old daughter cannot even pick them up right!
The pieces are so small, my 10 year old daughter cannot even pick them up right! The board is fine though. We donated it and bought a different one with "normal sized" pieces.
