not worth it
The thermostat on the AC didn't work from the start, so it runs nonstop when we use it. The thermostat on the heater works every now and then, if we have it set at 74 the heat will kick on when the house gets down to 60 or so. If it's to hot out the AC won't cool anymore, the reverse is also true for heat; once it's to cold in the room it will no longer blow hot air. The dehumidifier doesn't work at All, so we have to turn the AC on when it gets to humid. Overall, don't waste your money.

Blessed relief
After Hurricane Irma, we were without AC for 6 weeks. Our North Storm Portable unit kept our large bedroom cool, enabling us to sleep and get dressed in comfort, and provided us one room as a retreat during the worst days. It performed very well, and we consider it money well spent.

It works fine with the tube
This is economical and works well in a relatively large room (if we close it off), both the air conditioning and the heat! The problem is that in Northern California, it seems the outside air is too humid, and we had to rig up a tube to drain the device or it just keeps shutting off. It works fine with the tube, but it's cumbersome, and way less than attractive to have a pail with water emptying into it.

Better than no cooling but not as cool as expected...
I have a 20 x 12 (440 sq feet) storage shed which was insulated with spray foam insulation -- everything except under the floor. When it is 90 degrees outside and the unit is set for 72 cool, it will not quite do it. It is certainly more comfortable than outside but I thought I would be able to make it "cold" if desired. Also, I ended up sitting the unit on a pedestal because the water drain is so low that the drain hose would not drain properly. Getting the unit higher off the floor fixed the problem. Have not tried the heating part of the unit.
