The German shooting stars are back with a vengeance! "Awake the Riot" is the perfect example of how Thrash Metal should sound, and shows that DUST BOLT is already snapping at the heels of the Bay Area heroes. Highly explosive precision drumming, furious leads and solos plus fantastic riffs flying at the listener so intensely, that whiplash after the first spin of the album is guaranteed. "Awake the Riot" is an aggressive rapid-fire riff barrage that will take no prisoners! Thrash Metal! Explosive and aggressive! Thrash 'em All!

Good, but...
I loved Dust Bolt's debut, and I waited with extreme anticipation for their follow up.I loved every song on "Violent Demolition," and I usually listen to it from start to finish. However with this album I find myself skipping over a couple of songs, and no matter how hard I try I can't get into them. To me, it kind of feels like the German 4 piece went in favor of listener accessibility over aggression in certain spots.I must admit though, this also worked in the guys favor in huge ways at times, notable examples off the top of my head being "Soul Erazor," "Eternal Waste," "Living a Lie," and "You Lost Sight." These songs, among others, had riffs and guitar leads I had to hear over and over again because of how "ear-catching" I thought they sounded, and then other songs had parts where I couldn't keep my head still from headbanging. Yet, there are songs where I only refer to them by track number because I never bothered to learn their names.Really my complaints are little things. Sometimes it felt like they were trying to make a riff catchy that really wasn't, then a part that really was catchy only gets played twice. Other times a tempo change will feel out of place, yet this doesn't happen often, and usually only at the end of a song. The lyrics are all rather forgetable to me, with all of them seeming to be about war, death, or revolution, or something along those lines. I guess it's good that this genre's main focus is the music. Lyrics are definitely this band's, (as well as many other thrash bands) weakest area of songwriting. It's a decent effort and a great showcase of this band's talent and hard work, because you cant play stuff like this live without practicing hour upon hour.

... many new bands who have an old-skool thrash sound like Dust Bolt has
You DO NOT find many new bands who have an old-skool thrash sound like Dust Bolt has. Killer riff followed by killer riff. If you like killer thrash bands, Dust Bolt is what you're looking for. This album is the real deal. Just like their first album Violent Demolition. Pick them both up. Enjoy!

Dust Bolted to Your Soul
These guys are German and are another newish band that has threw their tuppence into the already saturated Thrash Metal Landscape, but I like them, they play a style of thrash thats not unlike Hexen or Havok, in other words don't be looking for originality or anything that's remotely outside the box because you aint finding it here, nonetheless Awake the Riot is very enjoyable , in fact its impressive, there is a level of detail to the riffage that shows a maturity beyond the bands "newish status" and showcases a learning curve that they are starting to get comfortable and experienced at this game, drums and singing are all at a nice level and the CD has that "grab hold" effect at times with some serious passages of riffs (a major plus point that is lost on many bands today). All in all Dust Bolt are as good as any modern straightforward thrash acts of today, not bad at all.....................

Einfach gut!
