Always Breaks. Very Thin Glass. I have bought two and will not replace.
Really perplexing why SOMA would design the carafe with such thin glass because it breaks so easily. The style is nice and honestly the volume needs to be doubled, but they could do with increasing the durability of the materials. I am willing to pay for the style but not worth it if the carafe only lasts me a couple months. Will not be replacing the second one I have bought.

Carafe very stylish and water tastes great, maybe a little better than the bottled spring water we've been drinking for years now! Water from our tap smells like it came out of a swimming pool due to excessive chlorine, but after it goes through this filter it is a real treat. Filtration happens at an ok speed, not too fast, not too slow. In comparison to other filtered water I had drank in the past, the water coming out of his one does not smell like plastic, and the carafe itself is like a small design piece standing on my kitchen table. Super happy with it. Water quantity is perfect for a couple of 2, we fill the upper part 5-6 times per day, and each fill-up is almost half a carafe. Go Soma!

Poor quality
Hi,I purchased the SOMA glass carafe from Amazon in late 2023. I started using the carafe in summer of 2024. After a few weeks of usage and regular washes I have seen mold accumulated in the plastic white top cover. I tried to get rid of the mold and stains using various cleaning techniques but the stains remain in place. I am very disappointed and discouraged to use the product that can catch mold after few weeks of use and leave stains. I am very concerned of my family’s health here as well as we have been consuming water from a container which is not well made and may have been cheap quality. I would not expect a well known brand like SOMA to sell cheap quality water carafes with plastic lids that are poor quality. MOLD IS THE LAST THING ANYONE WANTS TO SEE IN A WATER GLASS CARAFE.

Love the look and taste of this water filter but some operational challenges
Love the taste and look of this water filter. It is also very easy to clean. However, it has a few challenges that include precision pouring (like when you need to fill a water bottle) and the slow filtering rate (which is exacerbated in my dry climate). Despite the negatives, I am glad I have the unit and have bought one for each of my homes. I just wish the operation was quicker.

Keep it clean and it won’t get moldy
I have been using this for 2 years and love it. I chose this filter primarily because I want to limit my exposure to plastic (granted there is still some plastic involved in this product) and I like the glass carafe.I noticed that many reviewers mention the mold build-up and I do agree that this can happen but I think any environment with moisture and warmth will lead to mold; in order to prevent mold from growing I take the whole thing apart once every week or two and give all parts a quick clean. Also, like everything else in life, keep it in a cool place out of direct sunlight. As far as filtration - I haven’t done any scientific tests to quantify the effectiveness but I can see that my cat’s water dish (in which I used to use tap water) no longer has any of the hard water / calcium buildup.Remember to clean your water filter pitcher (this or any other brand) regularly!

Love this!
I had one of these for many years, and used it on a daily basis, but someone knocked it over (accidentally), and it broke, I was so glad to see that I could still find a new one!

Gets the job done, but has a couple flaws
I bought this water filter to filter out bad taste and harmful chemicals, and bc it was the filter with the least amount of plastic. It filters water quick enough and it gets rid of the chlorine/hose taste that our water has. So overall it gets the job done. However, there are 3 things that don't work out so well in the end. As other reviewers have mentioned the lid at the top, that you pour the water through to be filtered, on rare occasions does not open, which results in water splashing over the side and sitting on top of the container until its either poured off or you manually open the lid. This only really happens when the lid is wet, usually from having just recently filled it, which causes a suction-cup kind of action, preventing the lid from opening. Knowing this you can predict when its more likely to happen. We leave our pitcher on the counter, bc it is more visually appealing and gives us more room in the fridge, and I think this keeps condensation off the lid, thus allowing it to open more often than if the pitcher was stored in the fridge.Secondly, The lid that the water comes out of when you pour it has recently (we've had this about 5-6 mos) begun to stick which causes the water to just trickle out in an unpredictable fashion, also creating a small mess. I'm not sure why this has begun to happen and I don't know how to remedy it.Thirdly, as mentioned, we bought this so that our water came in as little contact with plastic as possible (I don't know why its so hard to find a simple non-plastic water filter). I was aware that the water would be in contact with plastic while it was filtering, but it also comes in contact with it as your pouring it, bc the water flows back up through the plastic part of the pitcher while your pouring it. This design also makes water back up into the filter so even when its tipped all the way up the pitcher doesn't fully empty.Overall, it gets the job done and makes our water taste better, but there are at least a couple design flaws in how the lids work, which occasionally causes some water to spill out. I will keep this water filter until I find a better non-plastic one.

Exactly what I was looking for
Only use it for cooking and my Stovetop espresso maker. Got sick of the faucet ones falling apart and leaking. This one looks great on our counter, so do not mind it is taking up some space. Placed a 7 inch silicone Trivet under it in case it is as fragile as people say. So far, zero issues.
