Very disappointed
I was instantly attracted to this product because it included the three things I really wanted from a pocket knife; a neat little lambsfoot blade (so you can use it as a parcel opener at home, but also use it in public without it suggesting anything like a weapon), a bottle/can opener, and a pocket marlinspike (which, if you’ve never used one before, has a hundred practical uses which have nothing to with being at sea which you will discover as you go along. Make holes for seeding with it, clean your fingernails with it, etc). The shackle scissors I had no intention of using in the first place. It also has measurements on both sides in inches and centimeters. And a lanyard ring. How could you go wrong?Well, the great irony of the product is that the universal can/bottle opener is unopeneable. The only thing it does is painfully rip the ends off your thumbnail trying to open it.It doesnt open. I’ve blasted a whole can of W-D40 at the join since I got it and then tried to open it with pliers, and it doesn’t budge. I’ve tried widening the gaps between the blade and the plates with a screwdriver, I’ve tried EVERYTHING! The spring joint is clearly far too tight to start with, and there’s nothing anybody can do about that. I can’t return it, because from where I live because it would cost as much as the knife which took weeks to arrive in the first place. When you’ve got four basic tools on a penknife, only two of which you know you’ll use on a day-to-day basis, but one of which doesn’t work because it’s simply unusable, you feel conned. One for the bin, I’m afraid.

A Must Have for Anyone who spends time on boats or at sea.
Being A Merchant Seaman by trade, this type of Knife is the most useful to me. It Has all the functions and fittings that I find useful to have whilst onboard a vessel. From a knife (useful for cutting rope) a tool for operating stiff Shackles, a small marlin spike (operating still shackles and/or splitting open rope/wire strands so as to make splices) there is also a small can opener (useful for opening S.O.L.A.S. emergency rations) - which I hope I never have to use! It appears to be well put together and looks like it should last a long time. No Seafarer/Fisherman/Boating Enthusiast should be without one.

Excellent value for money
Modern replacement for a lost knife. Perfect for my application. Seen other reviews criticise product for stiff springs and a “bad” bottle opener! Found knife works perfectly with useful lanyard just the tight length. The “bottle opener” is actually a CAN opener, so unless you understand this you will pierce a bottle top very effectively, but have to offset the point to take the top off. So, operator error!Love the sharpness of the marlin spike as it makes splicing super easy and loosening tight knots a cinch. Nice solid stainless steel knife for any old salts out there. Highly recommended by a mechanical engineer 👨💻

Nice little knife
Nice knife to have in your pocket while sailing. Sharpe blade with rounded end for safety, marlin spike and shackle spanner. Look like a screwdriver on the end but this is a double arrangement that makes no sense to me, although have used it fine for undoing a shackle with a slotted pin. Would really like a little pouch for it. Haven't bothered with the little yellow lanyard. But this could go around your wrist to prevent loss.

Worth 6 stars.
Top quality. Stainless steel throughout, everything lifts properly and returns easily. Just enough features to be useful as a pocket knife without being overloaded with tiny gadgets.

Bought as a gift
We bought this as a gift to our son-in-law who has a "doer upper" small yacht. He was delighted with it and has already put it to work.
