Product Description In this exciting drama, Jesse Stone has settled in as the police chief of the small New England town of Paradise, Mass., and his ultimate nightmare has come true: Stone finds himself filling his time writing parking tickets and struggling to keep his ever-present attraction to beautiful women and booze under control. With one of his officers on maternity leave and another fighting for his life after suffering a gunshot wound, Jesse's restlessness gets the best of him and he re-opens a 12-year-old cold case involving the murder of a bank teller. Jesse finds his unsolved case unfolding while he's also investigating the tawdry circumstances surrounding an alleged rape aboard a yacht during the town's annual Race Week. .com Tom Selleck's reliably appealing performance in the title role carries Jesse Stone: Sea Change, the fourth in the series of films based on Robert B. Parker's novels. His Jesse Stone is one gloomy dude; fired from his job as a detective with the LAPD, unhappily divorced from his wife (with whom he still talks daily on the telephone), and now police chief in a picturesque but sleepy New England burg ironically called Paradise, Stone has relieved his boredom and general disaffection by taking to the bottle. But things are about to change. First one of the local girls accuses a visiting yachtsman, in town for Racing Week, of rape, an allegation that may or may not be true (in a scenario straight out of Jaws, when the presence of a shark threatened to ruin a holiday weekend, the tourism-obsessed Paradise town council wants to sweep this one under the rug as swiftly as possible). Then there's a robbery-murder case dating back a dozen years or more, which Stone at first takes on simply so he'll have something to do but later becomes a good deal more complicated. Sea Change is a great-looking film, with a lovely setting, gorgeous cinematography, and a golden retriever that can be relied on for adorable reaction shots. But it's also a TV movie of the week, which in this instance means that it's almost entirely predictable, with professional but less-than-convincing performances by actors dealing with a script in which the characters simply don't talk like real people (Kathy Baker and Kohl Sudduth as fellow cops are among the few exceptions). As for Jesse Stone, well, this is Tom Selleck we're talking about, and drunk or not, he is still thoroughly likable, not to mention a major chick magnet. That alone will be enough to entertain viewers looking for some easy escapism. --Sam Graham

Sea Changes
Tom Selleck should have made a Jesse Stone TV show. Lot's better than Magnum PI.

great
in my humble opinion tom selleck doesn't make a bad film or TV seriesbasic profileJesse stone is fired from a major American city police force due to beingdrunk on the job, he applies and gets the position of police chief in a tiny towncalled PARADISE with a population of just under 1000, he has a staff of 3-4and mostly they deal with small crimes. Obviously he's over qualified for the jobbut gets to grips with it, his drinking is his demon though he doesn't drink on the job he does in the home, also every day he talks to his ex wife jenny on the phone, he has numerousrelationships one ends in tragedya great riveting tv movies

Can never have too much Tom Selleck
This copy of the DVD was bought as a gift for someone that I know will just love it. I've already seen this movie and find myself recommending it highly. Though the Jesse Stone series was made for tv that hasn't dimmed the quality one bit. Great writing and great performances create a great production. At the centre of it all, of course, is the wonderful Tom Selleck. His work in this movie series is that of an actor truly comfortable in the shoes of their character.A great watch at a great price.

Tom Selleck brilliant as always
I came to the Jesse Stone series as a fan of Tom Selleck's, and am now a firm fan of Parker's work as well. Jesse Stone is the classic tragic hero, which Selleck portrays to perfection. The storyline in this particular installment is a bit slower, but nonetheless very enjoyable. Jesse's problems with alcoholism are not only dealt with in an insightful, realistic manner, but also serve to make the protagonist appear more real and sympathetic, unlike many TV characters nowadays. This film is gritty without having to rely on gratuitous violence and the obligatory sleazy sex scenes, which I thouroughly appreciate. I have ordered the other dvd's in this series as well, and hope Selleck continues with this franchise despite his success in "Blue Bloods".

Sea Change - More of Jesse Stone
Another solid outing from Tom Selleck as flawed cop Jesse Stone. The character of Jesse Stone is easily the best role Selleck has ever played, with gritty storylines played out against the tranquil background of small-town America. The latest, Sea Change, sees Stone investigating an old murder and, as usual, making enemies along the way. No spectacular car chases or uneccessary gun play just solid mysteries which are both entertaining and leave you guessing until the end.

Jesse Stone series
Thanks for sending this dvd fast and in well-packed condition as usual. I love this serie since I saw the movies once on TV. Unfortunately not all dvd's of the Jesse Stone series can be bought for Region 2. Some of them are, unfortunately, are only for Region 1 (USA and Canada) which cannot be played at the dvd-player available in Germany or other European countries. Hopefully some day soon it will be the case. I then surely would buy them also.
