3 month Update:Purchased in April. It worked pretty OK for three months. Had to retire it last week. Unit got stuck in on/open position and would not shut off. Thought maybe it was hard water buildup but after letting it soak in CLR, still not working- a shame too because it was great while it lasted. Six months later, cats are now back pooping with aplomb.———-original review below——-For too long I have had all the neighborhood feral cats pooping in my backyard garden and flowerbeds. This device put a quick end to that ship (literally!). I wish I had set up a ring camera to capture it in action!A couple of things keeps me from giving it 5 stars though. Despite there being controls on the unit, they don’t really allow me to fine tune it as much as I’d want. While the degree field limiters work as expected, the height and distance adjusters were largely ineffective. These are more a function of water supply pressure. Also, the motion detection was inconsistent. Sometimes I could walk all the way within 10’ of it before it triggered. Other times, it would detect me at 40’ Finally, an easier to manipulate onboard master cut-off switch would be nice. The dial knob currently on it is hard to turn when wet. This makes adjusting its modes or even using the nice timed watering features more cumbersome.Over all, I like it so far and am contemplating adding other units to protect my front yard flower beds.

I used this product to keep my dogs from digging. The sensor will catch them if there moving fast, otherwise they seem to walk by without setting it off. Overall I would not buy another one, but it seems to work for now. The good news is, once they get wet once or twice, they seem to learn.

This is a cheaply made piece of plastic. It does work. However, the water connector is the wrong gender for using a standard garden hose. I had to use a washing machine hose (female on both ends) as an adapter. The motion detector works, but is not sensitive enough to prevent squirrels, so all of my peaches disappeared in spite of this product. All in all, I would suggest go ahead and spend a little more and buy a better product than this.

It's motion detection alright!. And it works great. You just got a get a hose with a female end on both ends (ILowe's has them) if you don't have a quick connect hose connection, to hook it up. But once I got that squared away. With everything plugged in and batteries, I stepped it into the ground and waved my hand in front of it and it started right up. Sprinkled my whole 1/2 my yard. Can't wait till I get to startle a cat. See they like to use my fresh dirt as... well you know. And I'm trying to start a lawn. So once I get it goin, I'll be able to use my new Startler Sprinkler to keep my new grass seedlings nice and wet too cuz it has a timer on it as well. I'm so excited! And very happy with my purchase.

Where is the option to pick ZERO STARS This is the worst product ever, fake advertising of functions: doesn't activate with body motion, doesn't work as promised, it gets stuck at all the times, I made this purchase to keep the wild cats out of my yard, after installation it barely worked for not even two weeks was getting activated with bushes and branches but not wit cats or humans it kept getting stuck wasting water and at the time of requesting for help to repair they don't know how to do it and replacement takes forever, it's been almost 4 months of this request but nothing.My yard is still full cat 💩 and urine all over so the money I spent went to waste, if you want to just give your money away get sensor and solar products from this company.Good luck!!!

It did manage to scare stray cats and dogs out of my yard which was the goal. However, this thing is a real pain. The spike is not long enough to hold it upright while in use so you have to weight it down somehow. The battery unit keeps falling out. The motion sensor does not work well during the day time, seems like it was picking up shadows. Also the water connector is not standard. You are going to have to do a lot to get this to work correctly for you!

While it worked for three whole days it did the job of deterring the dogs from going to the front yard. It was not always a “sure thing”. Sometimes it acknowledged motion and other times you were smack in front of it before it sensed movement. It is very poorly made. I recommend buying the one with a well known name.
