Filament Innovations is an open-source, family owned, and fiercely independent 3D Printing company located in historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Our mission is to support the open-source community by offering American made 3D Printing Filament and large, open-source 3D Printers. Our new 2017 launched "Diamond LINE" of Filament is produced using USA sourced materials right in the USA, and this Carbon Fiber Filament uses 100% Ingeo PLA from NatureWorks and 12% Carbon Fiber by weight. This filament is designed for applications that need minimum flexibility and maintain its form under pressure. The Diamond LINE is a different type of 3D Printer filament, this is a filament produced where quality comes second to none. You will not find any oily residue, mis-aligned spools, or any "size" issues with our Diamond LINE filament. So, let's take a step back and talk about this filament. Filament Innovation's is extremely proud to say this is our own blend of Carbon Fiber filament. We made this from scratch by doing our own research. This filament means a lot to us as we spent hours upon hours extruding, testing, re-fining, rinse and repeat. We extruded different amounts of additive: 20%, 15%, 10%, etc, and ultimately we decided on 12%. Why 12%? Well, it will work in your 3D Printer, to start. Carbon Fiber in the amounts of 20% and 15% were just too brittle and were breaking too easily. The last thing anyone wants is to run a 10 hour print and see your filament snap at hour 9! Plus, the quality of the base plastic is extremely important as it acts as the binder for the Carbon Fiber. Offering a 20% Carbon Fiber by using a low quality plastic will lead to a much higher failure rate than a higher quality plastic using less Carbon Fiber additive. Best of all, this filament uses 100% American Made Carbon Fiber, 100% American Made NatureWorks Ingeo PLA, and is made right here in America, a great combination all around!
