Q: Is there a way for steam to exit without gurgling and lifting the top, or does it hold steam in on a full boil?

There are no vents in the lids for escaping steam, but so far I haven't had a problem. The lids are domed so there is expansion room before a boil over would happen. I've been very satisfied with my set and love the flat bottoms that all me to use them on my induction plate.

Q: How does this compare with cuisinart pro pans?

In my opinion and experience with Cuisinart, I'd stay away from that brand. Their quality is no longer what it used to be, and their customer service is horrible. The OXO cookware is very well made, and you can tell just by holding them that they will last a long time. I like that these have glass lids. The only thing missing from this set is a dutch oven, and if OXO makes them, I'll be adding it to this collection.

Q: How does this compare to farberware pots?

There is no comparison between farberware and oxo cookware. Oxo cookware works as good as All clad. Nothing sticks to the pan. I have tried many good stainless steel cookware where food sticks. But all clad and oxo are my favourite brands . the bottom of oxo pan is thic and heavy and also oxo pans have thick aluminium layer between two stainless steel. Their aluminium layer is very thick as compared to calphalon tri ply cookware and similar to all clad tri ply. All Clad is expensive but hese work as good as all clad. My favourite part of these pans is that food never sticks.
