The offset allows the camera to point straight and up
I wanted a clip that would go onto my backpack that would take a standard gopro clip and this even came with the non-flush mounting clip so that the camera can lean back far enough to be straight ahead or up when clipped to a backpack. This works great and I'm here to order a 2nd. This way I have different cameras that stay on the clips, and I can swap them out on the different mounts (tripod, backpack clip, extended monopod). I have a basic action camera, a waterproof action camera, and I also have a mount with two action cameras, one is set to 4k video, the other is 16mp picture every 3 seconds. :-)
