Too shallow!!
Only the extra thin lights will fit in there I was trying to put a regular thin flat panel inside and I was struggling because there was no space for the wire it was only deep enough for the light and no space for wire. I wish it was 1/2 inch deeper

Installed double 2x2 lights with these
I used these to install lights into my barn, these are the surface mounts required for the new style LED drop ceiling lights that are meant to be in office ceilings and other ceiling types where there is a grid they will sit in. Here I have a regular ceiling and as such I needed these mounts. They worked great and allowed me to install 2x2 lights in a side-by-side configuration to save space and resources. They are sturdy and easy to assemble!

Good product, but installation can be tricky
Happy with final result, but really should come with the following instructions that would make your chance of success much higher:1) Assemble frame completely - all screws tight - this makes the screws easier to install once installed2) On the end that is going to be removed for install, remove JUST THE 2 SCREWS that will be impossibly close to the ceiling (and therefore hard to remove). Leave the other 2 and the end piece in place for now3) Locate the frame in the desired position (helper absolutely a necessity!)4) Notice that the frame is a bit wobbly in this state, so you MUST verify that the corners are square before you completely tie all fasteners down5) Now remove the additional 2 screws on the end to be opened, and remove the end piece6) Slide the LED panel in from the end and complete wiring7) Install the removed end piece and replace the screws. The 2 near the ceiling are much easier to install using a long (12") extension on your drill or impact driver. Since you pre-threaded the holes in step 1, this is not too hardBetter instructions and white screws (rather than silver) and they would have earned 5 stars

Wrong dimensions shown in product photo. Decent construction. Inadequate hardware.
I have updated my review to 4 stars to reflect the manufacturer correcting the dimensions on Amazon's web site. It now shows 1.9" depth and not 2.7. Original review is below. Still has poor hardware installation instructions, but most of these panel mounts have this issue. The product photos gives the dimensions of 2.7 inch deep, which is incorrect. The panels I intended to use these for are 2.3 inches with the attached junction and these can't be used in my application.Otherwise, these panels are build good enough for the job. They have a nice even finish and I'm sure the construction is good enough to hold a panel light. I don't like the included hardware, which consists only of 1/2 inch long plastic drywall anchors. I definitely wouldn't recommend using plastic drywall anchors on a horizontal, overhead installation. If you're not hitting any wood with 1 1/4 inch or better screws, you would probably want a few toggle bolts for installation. If you live in an earth quake zone, you'll want more that a few screws or toggle bolts.
