SinoPie DT-8868 is a professional non-contact infrared thermometer, which can be used to measure both the temperature of human body and object surface. For example, An ear temperature is usually 0.5-1°F (0.3-0.6°C) higher than an oral temperature, whereas forehead temperature is usually 0.5-1°F (0.3-0.6°C) lower than an oral temperature. This is NOT due to the inaccuracy of the thermometer. 2. Be sure that the thermometer is in "Body" mode when taking temperature of human body, otherwise it will give inaccurate reading. 3. Be sure that there is no sweat, hair or other obstacle in front of the forehead, otherwise it will give inaccurate reading.4. Medical assistance can’t be replaced by use of infrared thermometer.

Not at all accurate.
I got this back in December and finally just threw it away. Every time I've scanned my children, or even my own, foreheads it reads 97.9. Not a big deal, until this past weekend. My son was running a fever. I knew he was, just wanted to get an accurate number. His cheeks were flushed, chills - all the classic flu symptoms. Checked his temp....97.9! I grabbed my older digital thermometer, and got 102.6. I most definitely would NOT recommend this to anyone.

I have found a new object to aggravate my husband with
First of all, I believe that I jinxed myself when I purchased this. I was feeling completely fine and haven't been sick in a pretty good time. Once I ordered the thermometer I got sick. But I have been shopping around for a newer thermometer, and I don't know about you but money doesn't fall off trees in my neighborhood so I do my research. After carefully reading the pros and cons I knew that I had made the right decision. You don't have to make contact to the skin to get an accurate reading. Also, it has a backlight so you don't have to turn the lights on for the reading. That's my favorite feature since I suffer from migraines.When I felt better I did aggravate my husband a bit reading different parts of his body, and then I checked the cat. They're both fine.😂This is another purchase that I'm very happy and glad I did my homework.

Shows 97.7 all the time. Son had fever of 101 and showed 97.7, Tried different spots , changed batteries, etc. Still 97.7.

It's not accurate.
I work in the medical field and use forehead thermometers at work all the time. They generally work really well and I find them to be quite accurate. This thermometer, however, is not accurate. The temperature changes from use to use, holding it at the same distance in the same spot. I had intended to use it for my newborn son after he is born, but accuracy is a big deal when you're talking newborn/infant temperatures so I plan to just throw it in the trash.I would not purchase this time again.

This no contact thermometer is really a good helpful product now that its flu season without having to “share” to everyone in the household! It is very easy to usw so the kids can use this themselves without supervision. It can store up to I think 10 previous readings so its easy to monitor the temperature rise/fall. I can say its durable since it has been dropped 4 times and its still working!

No accurate temp, same temperature every time.
Every temperature I take, no matter with who, it comes up 97.7 every single time. I was trying to take my granddaughter's temp, and each time it came up 97.7, yet when I took her temp with a regular thermometer under her arm, it was 101.6. I really regret buying this.

In love with distance
I was looking for a thermometer that would work for the whole family and I found it. The regular digital thermometers are good if you are old enough to understand to leave it under your tongue until it beeps. We tried a temporal thermometer after we had a baby and he was really squirmy and we were never sure if the temperature was accurate. I love how this thermometer checks temperature by just pointing it towards the head. Other bonus is being able to check on my sick kiddo while he's sleeping so I don't disturb him. I know it works for more than just kids, but this might be one of my go to presents for baby showers.

Easy and accurate
A replacement for my old ear thermometer. It's fast, easy accurate readings within a few seconds. Very easy to use. I like that it can display temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius. It also came with 2 batteries, a mini screwdriver and one extra screw. Very thoughtful and nice. A perfect kids thermometer!
