We will add a small amount of cornstarch to the ostrich feathers to keep the feathers fluffy and dry. All ostrich feathers have this phenomenon, which is very safe and normal.

Q: Suitable to make into a quill pen?

I personally would say no as I think these plumes were more for decoration or embellishment. If they have larger, sturdier ones available they might work for a pen. Hope this helps.

Q: Are they good for tying flies?

They’re huge. I’d have to say no.
