Lovely set with colour-changing figures. Kind-of...
This set is going to be a huge hit with my niece, who is nearly five, and graduating from Duplo to 'proper LEGO'. Or BLOX to MEGA Construx, in this case.Mattel's Mega is the US's equivalent to LEGO, in case you didn't already know. As such, it has official licenses with Barbie, Pokemon and others. The quality is high and it should be regarded as an alternative to LEGO rather than a copy. This Barbie set is great for younger children. It uses components from the 'big kids' Construx range, combined with large pre-shaped components like the pool, and larger Barbie figures - or Micro-dolls as MEGA call them. The set has a 'secret feature', in that some of the pieces change colour in water. I wasn't hugely impressed with this feature. The larger dolphin has hearts 'tattooed' on its side, which are supposed to change colour. No matter what I tried - running water, dipped in water, really hot water, really cold water - I couldn't get the pattern to change colour. The micro-dolls arrive in a uniform blue colour. I dipped one in water expecting it to change colour (or not), and was surprised to find the water changing colour and my fingers getting sticky. The figure is actually PAINTED in water-soluble paint, which washes off when you dip it in water. It's a once-only thing, and I can see lots of little people being upset that the figure only changes once. More should be made of that in the packaging - it's a 'reveal' feature, not a colour change. To be entirely fair, it does say that in the name - Barbie Colour Reveal Dolphin Exploration. If I dip the figure in cold water, a very faint pattern appears on the hair, as indicated in the instructions, but nowhere near as bold as they suggest. I think perhaps the very hot weather has affected the colour-change paint while the toys were in the warehouse.Aside from that, the rest of the set is exactly as expected. The parts come in clearly-numbered bags, and the instructions are comprehensive and clear. The fit of the pieces is excellent and there is a good mixture of large and small bricks so it's challenging without being fiddly. Once built, there is lots of play potential, which is something missing from a lot of other brick-building sets. The micro-dolls can be dismantled, in particular the top-knot of their hairstyle comes off so you can fit the hats that come in the set.Overall, a great set that's a lot of fun. Mine has some issues with the colour change, so I'll have to manage my niece's expectations slightly (especially since I've already done the once-only 'reveal'), but it's not really a huge feature of the set.

a lovely set that was compatible with our existing toys
I wasn't overly familiar with the MEGA construct system before, but I was pleasantly surprised that the peg placements seemed to be broadly compatible with our existing lego, so it makes integrating this new toy with our current ones easy and is a lovely unexpected bonus as it means we can buy more into this without having to scrap what we already have. This looks like official branded merchandise and a nice recognisable twist on the more modern version of Barbie. Our children have really enjoyed it.

Lovely little set
This is a review for MEGA Barbie Color Reveal Dolphin Exploration toy building set with 10+ surprises, 2 micro-dolls and 2 dolphins, toy gift set for girls and boys, ages 5 and up, HHW83This is a really nice little building set. It is very similar to Lego, where you build using small blocks that connect to each other. It is fun to do and would make a lovely Birthday or stocking present. It is is good value for money and my daughter has really enjoyed building it.

Reveal
This colour reveal set is incredible, includes a small painted suprise doll which needs to be placed into water to wash the paint off and reveal the look. Kids love this bit, sadly it's a one time only thing. The set of tiny lego style pieces is fantastic quality but imagine will be lost easily. For the size its expensive, however the quality is top tier and will last a long time.

Super cute Barbie Set
Mega Barbie Set is really going to blow your child's mind.We have all sorts of blocks to build a water and island and a boat which took our nephew a while. Well made pieces can definitely withstand some heavy play.Little characters change colour when you apply heat to them. Rubbing in hands as a magic trick or a cup of warm water will do. The kid was super excited.Super fun and comes at a good price too in comparison to some other toys. Sturdy and colourful. Our lil nephew adores this set and so does he's older sister.

My daughter loves this.
I got this for my daughter who is Barbies mad. It’s just like Lego, just as good quality. It’s quite small but nevertheless just as good. You can build 3 different little sets. Which are all easy to build and put together. It come with very simple and easy to follow instructions which my 5 year old followed and built this her self. It’s all good quality the blocks are good quality, it’s very colourful and fun. There are multiple different parts to this barbie set that are colour changing. You just need to use water, it’s really reactive to the water changes straight away. This has offered my daughter so much fun. Really easy to put together. Comes with lots of little added extras. Great value for money, it makes a great birthday or Christmas present.

A very playful and colourful set
This very colourful building set comes with a little boat, dolphins, a beach hut, plus two little dolls and loads of playful extras that make putting this together with your child loads of fun as well as educational. There are many bricks to it so it's not a 5 minute job putting it all together, but this makes it all the more rewarding as it requires your child to maintain focus and concentration, so it's a win-win!

Beirn loves her new Dolphin set!
The little girl loves her new Barbie Dolphin building bricks. She thinks it's Barbie Lego, even though it's not. She loves building it up and pretending the carpet is the sea, whilst she looks for more dolphins. She is super impressed by the colour reveal of the dolls, and the hidden surprises that are activated by water. She absolutely lovely this Barbie set. Excellent price in my opinion, great gift for any girl whether its a birthday or Xmas.
