Unfortunately, I wish I could leave a better review. The plastic wrap around the box arrived torn open, and the box was quite damaged. The things inside were scrambled around and one of the Nibs was also damaged. Besides that, I received a gray pen when I had ordered a green one. The book is a little more cheaply made than I had expected but I suppose for the price it isn’t bad. However, the ink is a nice consistency, and the paper does not bleed. I wish I had better things to say about it, but I’m overall just a little disappointed.

This is a very nice gift set for someone who likes calligraphy/pen and ink/ etc,,,It comes with a stand for the pen, extra nibs, ink, and a journal. The stand was a little difficult to put together. There's a plastic nut that goes inside the pen cap/holder to hold it on. I finally got it to work by forcing a slot screwdriver into the plastic top (not too hard, just enough to hold it), put the cap on the screw, and used the screwdriver to tighten the nut. Once together, it works well. The cap is actually too big for the pen to fit snugly, but it works as a holder. I was a little disappointed in the feather color. It showed as a brighter green, this is more forest green/ green-black.The notebook is leather like, but I'm not sure it is real leather. The inside is a soft velvety texture that you don't normally find on real leather. Other than that, it is a nice sized notebook to carry around. They actually overfilled the binder with paper, which is nice. Though I'd recommend removing some of the sheets to make writing easier. The paper is like a kraft paper, but nice weight and smooth. Testing the ink and pen gave a smooth writing experience. The trick is to get enough ink without too much. might be easier if using a ink dish rather than straight from the bottle like I did. Holding the pen at a normal writing angle, the ink flowed well with little spotting. I was very pleased with the results.

Daughter #2 loves calligraphy, quill pens... pretty much everything in this set. She loves this whole set and it looks lovely on her desk. The notebook alone looks like something that would be expensive, more expensive than the price on the set. Actually, I have one that is similar and I paid more than the cost of this set, so that by itself would be a good value. Then you have the quill, nib, and replacement nibs, and it all comes in a box that's ready for gifting. The pen writes smoothly, and the paper is good quality so there's not bleed through. This whole set is good quality, and I'd recommend it.
