A Little Advanced...
This book is a little hard to read. Basic instructions are grouped together in the front of the book so you have to refer back to it while working on a specific pattern. Materials (yarn) suggested is mostly not available here so you need to improvise...hard to determine finished size of your bear. I am actually working on my first bear from this book and it is almost complete now, but it has taken me a lot longer than other bears I have made. Had to spend time on the internet looking for YouTube instructions on certain stitches suggested in the pattern....especially stitching the seams. However, having said that, these patterns are the first ones I have used that produces what I call a "traditional" teddy bear and I love the book for that.

First edition?
This book seems to have been revised. It has the same title as Sandra Polley's other book....the only difference is that this version has the bear with glasses and red vest on the cover and the newer version has two bears with overalls on the cover. They don't seem to mention it in the listing. Same patterns and everything....so if you already have this version please be advised that it's the same book as the other one. It's a great book with nice, understandable patterns but as good as it it....you don't need two of the same!

Lots of fun!
I found the instructions pretty to work with. One thing that confused me at first in the instructions to finish each piece was cast off and I finally figured that that had to mean bind off. I have only made one little bear so far but I will be making one for each neice. The pictures are just heartwarming and you just want one of each bear to cuddle. This book is better for intermediate knitters than beginners although with a little help and direction, a beginner should not be afraid to try something new. The pieces work up pretty quickly and in my opinion, sewing the parts together is the mose tedious and time consuming. Especially if that is your least favorite part like it is mine.

I've purchased this more than once! The patterns are cute and easy to follow so I recommend this one when I have friends who want to learn knitting skills beyond knit and pearl.

Great book!
If you love bears, and you love to knit...you will appreciate this book. It is full of all sorts of bears to knit, for knitters of varying levels. The author explains eye placement, and gives the reader in depth details on how to put you bear together. The variety of patterns are from simple, to nostalgic, and bears made of recycled yarn. In short, there is something for every knitted bear person.

This is my favourite teddy bear to knit
This is my favourite teddy bear to knit. He is not complicated. This toy will not be finished quickly but if the instructions are followed exactly you will have a wonderful toy. I embroidered eyes as I don't want any hazardous problems. However, I am unable to find wire glasses for him. I used a pair made for large dolls and they fit and look good but wire ones would be ideal. Any ideas where to find them? The waistcoat is easy to make and fits him well. An excellent book.

Love the ideas!
I bought this book for ideas, and plenty of ideas it has. I consider myself an advanced knitter, this book is a bit amateurish for me, so after I look at it long enough, it will be gifted to my little niece, and comes summer I will be teaching her to knit from it.

Timeless creations!!!!!!
This book of bears is just so magical. I made jack from this book on 4mm needles instead of the ones stated and the result was so amazing; my bear rocks! I had to use 6mm needles so that his outfit turned out the correct size with a will, a little imagination and some skill you can change these bears different sizes with different looks to suit the person you are making one of them for!

Excellent book
This is a beautiful book full of amazingly cute teddies. The instructions are very clear and easy to understand. The recommended yarn is American but the UK equivalent is given too. Brilliant

Very disappointed
If I had realised that this was a print from 2004 I would not have purchased it. Especially at the price I paid for it which was £15.68 with p/p.The reason for this is that there was a re-print done in 2012 which is an exact replica of the above for which I only paid £5.99 with free p/p. There is no difference whatsoever when checking the pages. So I am stuck with 2 books exactly the same apart from the front photo.Sue Swarbrick

All knitted teddies
Excellent little book. I was expecting several knitting patterns, but was delighted with the sections on how to make the expressive faces, also stuffing and other advice. A really must have book if you want to make stylish bears
