California Soap Supply Lye, 2 Pounds with Soap Mold

The active ingredients are not pure sodium hydroxide. There is also Sodium Carbonate in there which transforms this into oven cleaner and drain unclogger. NOT SOAP MAKING INGREDIENTS. And who knows what that 1% "inert ingredients" are and what they mean for skin and soap. I recommend buying a food-grade quality. Yes, there is such a thing (although you shouldn't eat it) and use that instead as it is only sodium hydroxide.

When I went to open my package I reached inside to pull out the bottle of lye only to discover small our crystals all over it. I immediately rinsed my hands off and only received minor burns but still!!! The cap was on sideways and the safety seal was partially opened. I have never been so furious about an Amazon product. This is ridiculous.

Buyer beware. We received this and the package was smashed. Now this it from the delivery service so we opened it up and everything looked fine. We then opened the lid of the lye and found the seal was punctured like a finger or something went through. However the lid was fine. So someone opened the lid. Messed with the product and then out the lid back on. Since lye is dangerous we don’t know what to think. Shady product. We got refunded but since it’s dangerous we can’t ship it back. Now I have to go through my disposal company to properly dispose of it.Please the mold is small and feels like a toddler could tear it. Shady and cheep product. Do not buy.

Lye soap making isn’t easy and I have yet to make a batch. I know this is the right lye, but I know cold process is the way to go for what I want. This same Lye was a few bucks more without the mold so it was worth the buy.
