I got this gift for my dad and he absolutely loved it

At $64.25 (Amazon price at time of review) this set - to me - is a bit over-priced. Again - for me, this needs to be somewhere south of $50 (it is AmazonBasics, after all). This current price is why I deducted one star.Having said that, let me say that this set is superb. No issues with mismatched hex wrenches and sockets or poor manufacture. The case is nice, as well. had been looking for a set like this for some time and since I was able to get it at a slight discount this was the time to jump.Bottom line, price the price down a bit and it's a solid 5-star item. Until then...4 stars.

I have a couple allen wrench sets, one a bunch of shorter bits attached to a handle the other similar to this one (sockets) but much shorter in length. For most run of the mill situations I tend to use the the allen key sets but when it comes to automotive work I almost always resort to the socket bits. They generally work great but I've encountered a few situations where I need long hex bits and only long hex bits would work. This happened recently when I went to take my sons aftermarket intake manifold off his car. The fastners were hex bits and recessed about 4" into the manifold. As a result I couldn't do it and had to take it to a shop. If I had had this set then this would not have been an issue. These are the types of tools you might not use often but when you need them nothing else will work.The bits came in a good plastic carrying case exactly as shown in the photos. In many instances these cases are junk but this one was not as it closes securely and really holds the bits in place. The bits themselves appear to be decent quality and though I haven't had the chance to use them in a high torque application yet, I think they will hold up well. What I like most about this set however is that it doesn't skip sizes. You get most of the more common metric and SAE sizes, all 5" long at a reasonable price. If there was one thing I might have liked it would have been having a ball end on the hex to reach in at angles but that does compromise the ability of the hex to grip the fastner so there is a trade off. Over all I'm very pleased with this set and while I might not use it every day it will certainly be helpful for certain situations.

It was recommended to get these as they are long. But 6-8 inches the the work space tighter. Decent value if can be used.

This review is for the 18 piece hex bit socket set.Have you ever had a hex screw in an awkward position? A position where you need to insert the standard L-shape hex wrench into the screw and then turn it a quarter turn and then repeat. I have, and it’s a pain. I ordered these socket drive hex wrenches to help with that problem. I can insert my standard 3/8” socket driver into these hex wrenches and quickly and conveniently remove or insert the hex screw.What’s even better is if you have a 3/8” socket adaptor for your battery operated drill! Chuck the adapter into your drill and then attach the hex wrench you need. Removing and inserting hex screws are no problem in awkward locations and you can do it quickly.When you open the case that the hex wrenches come in, make sure that the “Amazon Basics” logo is on top. The flip catches are oriented that way just in case. The reason is that the US standard wrenches are on top and they are held securely in place with indentations built into the case. The metric wrenches on the bottom are not held in, but are just laying in their spots. Therefore, if you open the case the wrong way, the metric wrenches will fall out all over the place.The hex wrench size is clearly stamped on the socket, just like normal sockets. The size is also stamped onto the actual hex wrench at about the midway point. The overall length of each wrench is about 6 1/16”.
