Become a Homemade Whiskey Distillery
No one could ever know the importance of safety when starting a new project, such as making alcoholic beverages. It would be the best advice to do thorough research, speak with experts, and gather information to help you make the right decision. Developing homemade whiskey is not for the faint of heart because it takes a level of responsibility, organization, knowledge, and precautions to ensure overall safety. In "All American Whiskey Home Distillation," author Martin Reeve, a knowledgeable individual, lays out detailed information from start to finish on how to be successful in distilling whiskey safely from home. Before getting started, he discusses the history, the various steps of the distillation process, and what is required to ensure you set up a safe environment and work area, amongst other things. It would be an amazing chance for those interested to take an opportunity to create homemade whiskey. From learning terminology to the differences of how other country-based whiskeys are made, and so much more.I had no idea there was a lot to know about whiskey, although I don't drink any, I did learn that if you don't follow the steps correctly one wrong move can cost you your eyesight or worse. The reading experience was a positive one, informative and a bit entertaining, which would give readers a sense of connection to the author. The author's tone was more conversational that instructional, that enables people to pay attention versus being instructed to do something. I highly recommend this book for those who have the idea of making homemade distilled whiskey cross their mind.

A book for every do-it-yourselfer
All American Whiskey Home Distillation is well written and a much-needed reference for any of those seeking to become more acquainted with learning how to create one's own whiskey. Although, as explained within the book, brewing one's own whiskey is illegal in the U.S., learning about the process is not. Not only did this book have great detailed explanations, it also provided wonderful photos that enhanced the overall reading experience. I would recommend this read for all those seeking more information on the whiskey-making processes, you will not be disappointed.

Accessible
All American Whiskey Home Distillation: Step-by-Step Guide to Making Whiskey, Bourbon, and Rye in Your Own Distillery by Martin Reeve has an interesting and inviting cover, an image that in a friendly style shows you this is a process, bottle to bottle, to get to the final product. The book contains definitions to safety processes to descriptions of the tools you’ll need to make whiskey to recipes for the whiskey. We start out with the definitions, such as for “distilling,” and then the author moves immediately to safety—which seems right because we think about safety when it comes to things like “making” alcohol—at least I do! (As a side note, the pix within the book are colorful, inviting, and bright.) “Why American Whiskey?” the author asks, a good question, I think, because I thought that too, Why “American”? In fact, I didn’t even know there was an “American” “kind”! This helps me “get there,” leads me to the author’s history of whiskey, its importance, meaning. It’s so very important for me to understand the basis, the root, the foundation of why I’m doing something and if it has a history, what has come before so I know what I’m building from and/or standing on as a reader so, again, this part, well written, I relish. We also get the author’s purpose for writing the book which translates to mine, the reader, the one interested. Lovely.Something I didn’t expect is that there are many kinds of stills; the author goes about explaining, defining and detailing each. The chemistry—the ingredients and all the ins and outs concerning them working together are explained. Colorful photographs bring the ingredients to life. Finally, you aren’t left floundering! The recipes!

EXCELLENT RESOURCE
If you want to buy just one book, this is it - especially if you're even slightly familiar with what it takes (in general) to produce wine, hard cider, beer or you know who Tickle is just by the blue tee shirt. If you're interested in the distilling process, and know nothing of the processes of fermentation, brewing or have no idea who Tickle is - maybe you should do a little more research on distilling first - online is a great first start before getting this book - that said, this is an arena where ignorance is NOT bliss.Mr. Reeves does a fine job of writing in a straightforward way.I teach people the art and science of cooking at home: I always cover sanitizing everything before you start doing anything that's going to end up being consumed - the book doesn't really cover sanitizing, but since it's still (🤣 still! - I tickle myself) illegal to have a still in most of the US, so no real need for any more step-by-step instructions. That extra info is easily found online, once you've decided to "shine".Thank you, Mr. Reeve, for shouting out Mr. Green - after digging around in Kentucky distilleries, I found out that there have been many more unnamed persons that may have actually brought some part of that process with them from their country of origin.

Easy to read and a ton of info.
I am not a reader, I hate to read. In saying this, the author made this easy to read with a ton of Info. The step by step and content of each part was spot on. They made it an east read and I learned a lot. Highly recommended for those beginners and those who have a touch of knowledge on the subject.
