Best luminous dial, rugged performance with quality look
Great rugged watch with no pretensions. Size is average to above average and weighty on wrist giving a quality feel. Luminescent dial is amazing. Takes little to activate the luminous face and stays bright for longer than average. Armitron is a trusted name for me in watches and this one is a daily watch.

Simple, rugged design, keeps accurate time, love the glow in the dark dial, strap may not stand up to use in water 4 1/2 stars
I have reviewed a few Armitron watches for Vine and, generally they have impressed me with their ability to keep accurate time and the quality of the cases and straps. In the past, they have been digital display watches with lots of built in functions like stop watch, date and alarm. This watch with analog display and date appealed to me because of the retro look and canvas-look strap. I have a Bulova watch that was issued as a commemorative for WWII. With Memorial Day on the horizon, I decided to order it and see if it had the same sensibility as the Bulova.Out of the box, to my surprise, the time was set to the correct minute - the hour and date was off because, I'm guessing, the spring time change. I adjusted the settings against my atomic clock connected watch and have monitored it for a week. The to-the-second accuracy was excellent. The canvas-look strap has a leather liner so it may not be a good choice if you plan to use it in the water. On the wrist, my wrist (average size), the watch was hefty but comfortable enough to wear all day.The unique feature of this model is the glow in the dark dial. Shine a bright light on it from, say, a flashlight, and the dial really lights up. I kept the watch on my nightstand for several days and the glow, not intrusive, was helpful when I wanted to check what time it was without putting on my glasses. The style is plain and, with the big numbers, easy to read. Look carefully because if you want a flashy watch, this isn't it.One minor gripe but another watch geek will understand what I mean. The second hand has a hack feature - that means, when you pull out the stem, the second hand stops. Remember in old war movies the commander usually says, "synchronize your watches" - this is how they did it. You wait for the sweep second to point to 12 and then you pull it out to stop its motion. Then you can set the time to the exact minute and push the stem in to have the precise time. What this watch does - and it's a function, I believe of the movement's fundamental design - the minute hand has "slop" so that the minute hand takes quite a few seconds of movement before it moves. That means it doesn't reach the next minute mark when the second hand sweeps past 12 again. Makes me crazy! Admittedly, a very minor point, but important to some of us. If that's not something you care about, make this a 5 star review for a watch that is well made, is accurate and wears comfortably all day.

A nice looking solar power watch that is easy to read
I have lost track of how many watches I have bought my husband, some of them very very good watches. A couple of years ago he stopped wearing a watch and said he didn't need it because he has a cell phone. Then we got some (unisex) Timex watches and he wore one, daily. It turns out that the real issue was that he was hesitant to wear a nice watch, worried about damaging it. Part of the reason we have so many watches is that when the battery needs replacing it is never the same again. It loses much of its' water resistance at minimum, and for us, living essentially in the rain forest, that is an issue. I also had my favorite watch destroyed by a local jeweler I took it to to get the battery changed. We have tried a number of solutions to incude self-winding and ther citizen eco watch. Thus far, this is his favorite! It has all the features he wants (date, time and a glowing face which is visible at night) and is solar powered. It is a simple, nice looking watch with large, easy to read numbers,. It is a casual watch which is also elegant. It is sturdy and relatively impervious to the elements, and because the battery does not need changing, it ought to stay that way.It is relatively thick (I would estimate 10 mm, but since it is on my husband's wrist I can not measure it at the moment. WIll update with an accurate measurement when he gets home). I am afraid that Amazon's description is a bit off. It is not 3 inches thick, nor does it weigh 6 ounces. My husband says it is light and comfortable, and he is very happy with it. My perspective may be different than others' since I wear very thin watches. It is not huge or ostentatious like many of last year's fashion watches. It is substantial, but not huge, and not heavy. It is nicely proportioned for a men's watch. The face is 46 mm, again large but not huge. It has a balistic nylon strap which makes it comfortable and easy to wear. It is also practical and easy to maintain. It can be charged under flouresent light or sunlight and when fully charged will hold a charge for 4 months according to informationmn on Armitron's site. Iff worn routinely the charge will be maintained by ambient light. It is also waterproof to 330 feet. It is not a divers watch, not meant for swimming but should be Ok in the rain, or with the occasional splash. In short it is a watch you do not have to worry about, which keeps time well and is readable under most circumstances. It is easy to wear, comfortable, simple, sturdy and nice looking. It's everything my husband wants and not a lot of things he doesn't want. My husband has been wearing it since it arrived and it seems to be his favorite to date.

Casual and precise
Very nice Adventure Watch from Armitron. Analog with silver hands, an orange second hand, and an army green band. Time is precise and stays on track. There's a calendar on the dial, which comes in very handy. The dial glows for up to four hours at a time, allowing you to see in the dark. It's sturdy and also water resistant. Very good looking, too. My son wears it a lot and loves it.
