Vitamin B12 Deficiency and Chronic Illness

A Must Read Book for Patients and Health Professionals Alike
This book is a fantastic read and highly recommend it. I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia about 7 months ago and have been doing a lot of reading on the subject from articles to posting forums. This book seemed to tie all that research and make sense of it. At times really clearing up topics and misconceptions. Now when I read posts on forums and articles I actually feel like I can contribute to the conversation. I ordered the kindle edition and was just about to order the paperback edition for health professionals that I see or plan to see ( Doctor/Health Coach, etc.). when I decided to create my first review after being an Amazon prime member for over 2 years and never posting once (its that good). The book is written in a way that you can cherry pick the chapter and still make sense. The author doesn't bog you with information overload. As a result, I really felt like i got the big picture, from the history to causation to real solutions that I can't wait to try out.

Important book
If you're in the dark depths of a b12 deficiency this isn't the first book you should read. There are much quicker, easier to understand books. But this still has a lot of very good info. Highly insightful. Upon finishing I immediately went about implementing the suggestions as I do want to treat the source problem.

knowledge gained?
This book was ok, but I am not sure I learned much for myself... the format of the book was such that many things were mentioned multiple times and I found myself wanting to shout (to the author) 'stop obsessing over things so much and get to the point!'... this book read as random thoughts might sound jotted down on paper, brainstorming before the final draft... I would recommend finding what you can about Vitamin B from the internet, the same information (if not more) can be found there

Invaluable
I have recently been diagnosed with B12 deficiency at 130 blood serum. Knowing nothing this book gave me the big picture that I needed to get the help needed from the medical professionals, plus things I need to do for myself. Do look up any words that you’re not familiar with, though the author isn’t overly technical. I would recommend taking the time to educate yourself and this book is well worth your time.

B12 treatment is not always quick and easy; many people remain undertreated, and develop neurological damage.
Mike Newman explains the long history of B12 treatment, and why B12 deficiency doesn't have a simple fix. B12 must be replaced at levels much higher than previously assumed, as any supplemental B12 may make the blood test inaccurate. Digestion must also be improved with the use of acid increasers and enzyme enhancers.

Great resource on B12 deficieny
I found this book to be very informative about B12 deficiency and I found it easy to read. I specifically found the sections about neurological symptoms the most beneficial as other books I have read didn't separate the blood anemia symptoms from the neurological.

Five Stars for Mike Newman's "Vitamin B12 Deficiency and Chronic Illness..."
Getting a Vitamin B12 deficiency diagnosis can be a scary thing. Mike Newman's book is full of good information and I found it extremely helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for people, like myself, who suffer from this deficiency.

Awful
I purchased this book to read about a vitamin B 12 deficiency. The information given was very complex and too much medical theory and discoveries. I would not recommend this book to anyone who wants information about B 12 in layman’s terms.

'One of the most misunderstood conditions of the 21st century'
B12 deficiency is a common and serious condition. I'd highly recommend this excellent book containing important information for health care professionals and suffering patients alike. It explains the long forgotten complexity of B12 deficiency/Pernicious Anaemia really well, the difficulties most patients have in obtaining a diagnosis, and the serious neurological consequences that may result from delayed or inadequate treatment.

Educational.
Every health professional should read this book from nurses to consultants. The diagnosis and treatment of B-12 deficiency is getting worse. People are suffering needlessly and being prescribed addictive and toxic medications where a simple non toxic nutrient is all that is required.

Very informative and enlightening
The book answers a lot of questions that I had about vitamin B12 deficiency in a way that could be easily understood. It is shameful that previous studies done on this subject are forgotten and not heeded by today's physicians.

If you are afflicted? Well worth reading.
This is an historical & current review of PA & B12 use by an author with firsthand experience. It shows how inexact the science is even today! Patients with this information can make informed decisions. Be aware thought to keep up with the latest scientific events & user groups information.
