Serious upgrade! Pleasing sound.
When compared to my reference turntable, an Audio Technica AT-LP120USB direct drive, this turntable easily sounds 2x as good. It hits the mark for all of the attributes that I was looking to improve; low idle noise, accuracy of playback speed with belt-drive, better cartridge - Sumiko Rainier, heavy damped platter, awesome tone arm, consistent anti-skate mechanism, clean looks, simplified electronics (direct signal path, limited unnecessary sources of noise and distortion) and adjustability for VTA etc.I am using a Pro-Ject S2 preamp with the provided semi balanced cables, which are both great.I have a deer-skin leather mat which is about double the thickness of the provided felt mat, which is very thin. I adjusted VTA as such to match the new ride-height.My impression after several hours is that the audio is quiet, I mean dead quiet between tracks, with no white noise present to mask high frequencies when playing, so everything sounds clearer. The bass response at near 30Hz is very precise, across the board all frequencies are well represented. I find that my EQ is no longer necessary where the Audio Technica needed a boost at high and low frequency, and a cut in the midrange to hide the motor noise.I don't profess to be an expert by any means. I think this deck sounds about 2x better than the Audio Technica for 4x the price, but that ratio is expected with most high end device upgrades from my experience.Chris Cornell's "Long Gone" on 180g sounded good on the Audio Technica, and so good on the Debut Pro that I may wear that track out.You will immediately be impressed if you are coming from an entry level deck. I am happy with the purchase, I'd recommend it.Update: 10 days in and still impressed. I added the Pro-Ject Record Puck Pro. I've played almost every LP I own, including some new Opeth I picked up last week, and the sound is awesome. Good buy, highly recommended.

Showing New Model/Fulfilled With Older Version
Site shows new model with notched platter mat and smoked dust cover. The one I received is the older (felt) mat and clear dust cover.

Decent Turntable
I purchased this expecting a smoked dust cover, was pleasantly surprised when it showed up with the clear cover. Why have the nickel plated bits if you’re going to hide them with a smoked dust cover. Played decent enough with supplied cartridge, upgraded the stylus to the moonstone stylus. At some point I might swap out the entire cartridge with a nude stylus might equip it with a MC cart. Is the turntable worth the extra money over the lesser project models? I believe it is.

Best turntable under $1000 easily!!
This is worth every penny and if your leveling up to this from a crosley record player be prepared to be blown away. Make sure and have a newer receiver with phono and not just left right aux plugs.I paired this with Fluance speakers (the lower end as they ROCK for the money) Who makes good players too that are great, but don’t compare to Project debut pro and the next level up which just comes with a different cartridge/needle

Unacceptable!
The 7”single adapter was missing and the plinth was chipped! That’s unacceptable in a almost $1000.00 turntable!Worst of all, I bought it when I was on a vacation trip to the United States. Now I’m back in my country (Brazil) and it’s gonna be virtually impossible to get a replacement!
