Breakaway: Beyond the Goal

From 10 Year old boy______________________Alex did a great job writing this book and I loved the inspirational paragraph at the end of each chapter. I now think how I can relate to the paragraph. Right now I'm reading all the young readers soccer biography and so far I've read: Forward, My Story - Abby Wambach, All Heart - Carli Lloyd, The Keeper, The Unguarded Story of Tim Howard - Tim Howard, and Breakaway, Beyond the Goal - Alex Morgan (this copy). This book by Alex Morgan was my favorite. She no only tells her experiences but give detail that none of the others have given. Her book is not just about her story but gives inspiration for young athletes. Also this book is fairly recent (published: January 2015, Updated after the 2015 world cup) compared to the others and having a longer impressive 300+ pages. Also I loved the photos of her when she was little. Not all authors can include those so I think that was special. My 8 year old LOVED reading this book! She is not into soccer but she does like Alex Morgan. She is an avid reader. It took her about a month of frequent reading to get through this, but she loved every minute of it and is so proud to have read such a large book. She can tell me all about Alex Morgan now! She said it was easy to read and understand, just long.

The very readable and inspiring story of one of the most talented women in professional soccer today. Her tone is positive and upbeat as she tells the story of her journey to become a professional player. She started as a child in California and never wavered on her road to get there. She kept setting and completing goals for each step of her journey.Written to inspire and support kids to dream and work towards those dreams.

My 13 year daughter loved this book. She is a big soccer lover and Alex Morgan fan and I was happy to find this book for her. She says it is very inspiring to read and gives you tips to be a good person all around and a soccer player. The front cover of the book is a poster if you flip it around- we hung it up. She also mentions other soccer US players including Abby Wambach, Tobin Heath, Carli Lloyd, Allie Long Hope Solo, Megan Rapinoe, Kelly O'Hara, and more. She talks about her life story- it is not all perfect and talks about her ups and downs. I think it is a great book for all ages- especially soccer players.

A friend of mine let my daughter borrow this book, but my daughter accidentally tore the front cover so we purchased a new one. This one came with pictures which was a great touch! So I ordered a second one for my daughter to keep since she enjoyed the photos and her story so much. Definitely recommend.

My daughter loved learning more about one of her favorite superstars. It held her attention from beginning to end, had some great lessons in it, and I love that it is a book about someone a young girl can emulate.

Bought for oldest daughter as a Christmas gift since she plays travel soccer and loves to read. She enjoyed the book and recommends it to others

bought this for my 11 and 13 year old daughters. both are moderate soccer fans, but read the book from cover to cover. Alex is a good roll model for young ladies in this time of social media and so many arrests for many other young celebreties and athletes.

1. Content - 4/5 Probably this is one of very few books that written mostly positively. No space for drama or hate. In my opinion since the author tried to stay away from drama/negativity the real struggles she faced in her journey may been missing.2. Packaging - 5/53. Book Quality - 5/54. I bought this book for my 10yr old daughter and she LOVES it! She brings the book wherever she goes and reads a bit every chance she gets. The book is well written and easy to read. Alex Morgan is inspiring. She really speaks to the readers and ends each chapter with some advice, words of wisdom or food for thought. I’m soooo glad I found this book. Highly recommended!
